We were packing up this morning and Lisa spotted a giant bird land in a tree on the shore by the house. It turned out to be an immature eagle, still huge though. We walked across the yard and watched it from 10 yards. Then we walked down the steps to the beach right beside it. It didn’t care. It was tearing apart a seagull. Lisa was able to get a couple great pics in flight.
That sir, is a golden eagle. Black beak. Easiest way to tell them apart for me.
Second way to tell from a distance is when they fly, much more acrobatics during flight.

I at first thought a Golden but when I looked it up it said they were in the mountains of Maine and not on the coast.
If you can get the YouTube video to pull up it looks like a Golden.
We made it up Mount Washington auto road today in NH. Highest peak in the NE states.
Stopped at Niagara Falls today. Absolutely stunning but don’t need to see it again. People suck. If I would have acted the way my wife did dealing with rude people I would be walking home. She was throwing shoulders to get by people that weren’t considerate. They also had no restrooms open. That set her off to start with. Headed to a casino at chataqua now.
Sorry. Soon those rude people will have a hell of an awakening.
haha. Thanks Phil! A heads up would have been nice. Turns out that “casino” is a restaurant. Luckily we figured it out before it cost us the whole evening.
Went to the casino in Erie. Last $200 in an hour. Stopping at a little diner for supper and thenmight try to make it home.
Mike, there’s another casino in austintown off of Interstate 76… Rte 46 exit. Plus they have a horse track there.
We just finished dinner at a diner. We have hit some great little food spots this whole trip. Now it’s west to the mistake on the lake and south to the part of Ohio time forgot.
I've never been there. My daughter was a copy editor there all summer for an internship at The Chautauqua Daily. My wife visited her.
It was a great vacation with my wife. We were able to check out many things that had interested us. It was an awesome trip but we spent too much time driving. We really needed a couple more down days. I covered most of the trip throughout this thread but here are some random thoughts and observations.
1) Gas prices suck especially in New York.
2) Ny now has a mailed toll system...not sure what that is going to cost us.
3) New Hampshire and Maine must have bought into the whole covid deal. There are abandoned houses and businesses everywhere and I mean not just a few.
4) The people in the northeast don't know what a weedeater is. weeds are growing right up against homes that have freshly mowed yards.
5) There are apple trees growing everywhere. Lots of apples on the roads too.
6) NH and Vermont take their road signs serious. Some are quite comical.
7) I learned that "seaglass" is just broken bottles that have been beat up by the sea.
8) Niagara Falls was overrun by people of India-n decent. Over half of the people there were from India. They were extremely rude and apparently felt they owned all walkways.

The older I get the more I hate crowds. We were last at Niagara Falls the winter of 2013 and did the Festival of Lights. Had a blast and with no kids with us we could be adults doing adult things 
. I doubt I’d go back, I didn’t leave anything there so no reason too return…
