I think I can speak for all of us when I say we all miss it. I know I do. I'd love to be in my gunners hatch of my gun truck right now with my crew. Smokin hand rolled cigars from the hajis I bought in Scania before pushing North to BIAP. This place is the closest brotherhood I've found that resembles what I miss.
Miss the comradely and all that but don't miss the daily BS that he PC commanders and politico types bring with them....
Still talk to the guys and they let me know what I haven't been missing lol
You pretty much hit the nail on the head Dustin.... Even the worst deployments weren't nearly as bad because who I was with and knowing they had my back as much as I had theirs.... We were lucky and the majority of the deployments I was on we had a good group of guys with is... There were a few throw together ones that was a hodgepodge of units, not as good but we made it work....
I wouldn't need my TOO brothers if I was still active...sorry, I love you fuggers, but you simply just can't beat battle buddies. This place is the closest thing I've found to that. I'm proud to be a part of this place and can't wait to see all you ugly mother fuggers again. With that being said, I'm glad I don't see you fucks every weekend. My liver and family are really happy about that! Lol

Yeah that last one is pretty good. Funny how something can seem pretty private like that but it's actually not. Lol. Had a few rack mates with zero shame and would actually talk to you during. Lol. Good solid guys.
I miss the brotherhood, the guys and the fun we had. All the BS we did like sweeping parking lots and painting rocks, safety briefs because of all the drinking incidents I can do with out.

Rant/vent 
As some of you might remember my mom fought off cancer a little over a year ago. What people don't know is the amount of family drama that came with it. Basically my dads side of the family ignored that anything had even happened. This hurt my mom A LOT! To the point that they came to my house for the weekend during the family reunion.
Anyways...my aunt is also fighting cancer now and that side of the family is taking donations to help them along. WTF! Another aunt is who text me tonight for a donation...I fucking lost my shit and went full freak the fuck out mode! These people couldn't even drop a phone call to check on my mom, now they want support back?! [emoji35]
I'm gonna donate because that's who I am and I know how I felt when no one helped my folks besides my wife and I. But it didn't go unnoticed and I made my point very clear.
Sharing this because it's weighing in hard on my mind right now... I let my wife read the messages and she thinks I did the right thing. It's just...it's family...[emoji53] It's been hard for me to keep my mouth shut since it happened. I spent 10 days taking care of my mom after surgery and it was really hard to watch her mentally get worse every day waiting by the phone that never rang... she'd cry about it every day and talk about how she didn't feel like family to them. I couldn't take it any longer when that text came through today. Only text I'd ever gotten from my aunt also... Now my mind is all over the place. Oh well I guess, I meant what I said and I hope the word gets around and my mom gets some apologies.
I hate drama and I feel like I just made a bunch. Gonna loose some sleep over this...

I don't think you made any drama, you stood up for what you believe is right. You did the right thing, just my opinion, if you were "polite" in the text,(I wouldn't have been), then you did the right thing. I hope your mom gets some apologies and I'm glad she's doing better. Don't sweat it bro.
I was polite and respectful, it is my aunt. Texting also leaves you the ability to proof read, lol. I don't get that option when face to face...so it worked out better than normal.
Families equal drama, always has always will.... You did the right thing, let it sink in to them for a while and see what happens... Hopefully it works as planned....
