Video games...

I have a PS3 that gets dusted every week. Hasn't seen a video game in over a year......just Elmo for the oldest lol.

Played a lot in college, but priorities and lack of hrs. in a day have stopped it all......I hate growing up!

Damn bro, you're quite the hand around the house dusting once a week!

In college I played A LOT. Was in a clan for TFC which was a mod of half-life. I also got into a few of the others like UT and such but mainly TFC and Counterstrike up until the bots ruined them all (around the time STEAM came out). By A LOT i was averaging well over 40 hours a week on the PC. Since then I have dabbled a bit but don't even have a console or any games installed on anything in the house.

I have too many other things that take up my time between my family, work, the reserves, and my other hobbies for me to spend any time on games. That and we really try to limit how much tv time our kids get (heck we don't even had cable). I will admit every couple of months I go to a buddy's house and we will play some call of duty or something as I still enjoy playing the fps style games so put me in the < 40 hours a year club.

However today's games are so realistic and immersive I can at least see the ideas of how they could be an influence on people/kids to do some of the mass mayhem we see in the news. So much violence delivered with no consequences and all that. I don't think its the primary reason but I can understand it as a potential contributor.

Up until Izzy was born, I played a good bit of COD online. Since then, I hardly ever play. If I do, it's GTA or Tiger Woods. I'd say I'm lucky if I play more than an hour a week.

When the first Nintendo came out I was bricking coke ovens on second shift. I would get home when my ex was asleep as was my daughter. I would sit in front of the tv for hrs every night playing Mario, Zelda, and smoking pot. That lasted about a year. Fast forward twenty some years and I don't think I would know how to turn on one of the new systems. In the last ten years I have played wii bowling a handful of times, and might have 10 hrs in that time period.

We have 2 Xbox 360's, 1 PS2, and a PS3 at the house.. I used to play every day when my Army buddy who lives in New York was also working 3rd. We had the same schedule, so we got home the COD came on, we drank, chatted and Killed some Zombies for a few hours before passing out.. Now that he got a ol lady and went to 1st shift we hardly ever game anymore.. Also used to play game with my son untill his grades took a dump.. Bad Grades = NO GAME..
