Then what? What do you do if you kill a deer and it's warm out?

I quarter them up when I get home. Layer the bottom of my big cooler with ice, then a large trash bag, and a towel on top of that. I've never had any problems with meat going bad but it always makes me nervous as hell... Thinking about some anti-microbial bags for the meat this year. I had other plans, but the season is here already!

What do you do? I see a bunch of guys posting about not huntin the heat. That's just not always an option for me as I hunt when I can.

Last year when I killed crabapple my buddy and I quartered him up that night, got him in coolers on ice and I took the meat to the butcher. Looking back I wish I would of just taken him to the butchers cooler whole so I could of got pics with him the next day in daylight. I'm not shooting does in this heat that's for sure.

At home I quarter and hang in a cooler made from a freezer. At camp I am planning on quartering and putting on ice in a big cooler until we get back. At camp we aren't shooting any doe until later in the season.

I used to shoot does early but don't anymore . When I did I'd quarter them and put em in a big cooler . Now I just wait to kill em till it's cool enough to deal with them.
If I manage to kill a big deer and it's hot I'll probably just take it to a processor

If I get one early, I'll just do the same thing I did last year. Gut em, hang em in the garage, skin / quarter and put on ice for about 5 days and then process.
