I caused a riot. Charmin was limited, and chaos ensued.

Welcome. Plenty of chaos to join in and lots of good stories to catch up on! You can just start separating yourself from any other forum you might be part of now. 😂

Moonlab, and all,

I want to put some mineral down this Spring. I'm looking for growth, not necessarily attractant. Any recommendations? If so, why?

10-4, and agreed. Any recommendations?
Anything’s better than nothing.

What kind of area are you working with?

How many locations?

Existing mineral spots?

J already tagged our local guru on the subject. He has a thread around here I think in the DIY section. I used to just toss a Trophy Rock out behind my house. Pick them up about anywhere usually.

From the reading I have done putting minerals out in most areas of the country (including Ohio) is pretty much a waste for adding growth to a deer. Only areas that have a shortage of minerals does it provide benefit. To me it is one of the best ways to get an inventory of buck that are running around the farm. I know some have a mix that they do, but I simply buy a cheap trace mineral salt block from the local feed store or TSC. I place it up on a block of wood as the block lasts longer. Deer tend to eat the dirt around it instead of the block anyway. It takes a year or 2 for it to get alot of use in my experience.

Thanks Giles. Approximately 100ac. No designated mineral spots yet. Based on travel routes/activity, I'm thinking 6-8 locations.

Some swear that the right mix may add 20", so definitely open to suggestions.
