What did you do for the deer today?

Plus I dumped 3 full bags in my honey hole that I picked up this morning.

You guys are lucky as I don't even know of a apple tree in decent driving distance.

Planted some winter rye tonight in a food plot behind the house.

For those collecting apples. Have you ever tried freezing them to use them later?
I never have. Seems like they'd get mushy. Plus what's the point in freezing 20-30 pounds, I mean how much room does a normal guy have in his freezer to fit a ton of apples?

Well until we kill some deer we usually have a good bit of room in our deep freeze. We have a big chest freezer. Not thinking about freezing a ton but just some for later use.

I think I've heard Rick say that they turn mushy when they thaw out.

What's that one fruit tree that's like crack for deer? Drawing a blank on the name but the fruit is the size of golf all maybe? You don't see many around but the ones you do, will have deer going to it....

And of course as soon as I hit enter it comes too me lol

I had to replant my oats and turnip plot as the turkeys ate every stitch of seed that I put down in August. No big deal as I got to spend some quality time with my little buddy.

I lost my 2016 1 ac oats to turkeys. I planted it because we was to get 2-3" rain the next day but we didn't get a drop. A turkey flock moved in and ate every kernel. I didn't drag to cover thinking the heavy rain would cover it.
This year I planted oats 9 days ago but made a good drag and used the drag to cover it. Checked yesterday and it looks like a I got a full crop up already.
I don't drag the turnips I planted almost 4 weeks ago and we didn't get any rain for 16 days. But I did run a cultipacker across the seed after planting to press the seed firm. Got couple thin spots but it's still coming up after the heavy rain we got this week. I may top dress with new seed next week if necessary.

The funny thing about this plot was it all came up and was looking really good. That's when the turkey started plucking the new growth right out of the ground. If it happens again I'll have to figure something out for next year

I wonder if one of the Owl decoys (w/bobblehead)on a post would make a difference?
