Finally got a few shots in today. Felt good and has been way too long.

Shot Garrett's crossbow. My gosh is that thing nice. Feel like I'm cheating. It is dialed in out to 40yds. Didn't try any farther. Shot field points and broadheads. Four arrows in quiver. 2 with Slicks. 2 with some Rages someone was generous enough to forward. He needs to be compensated somehow. Haven't thought up the best way just yet. Garage is starting to get organized. Early season gear washed and put away. Climber, Millennium, crossbow, and compound hanging. I'll be out shooting tonight after another round of icing my back.

Breaking in my new Christmas gift that I received from my boys :)

First five arrows from 30.

Looks like I should've gotten out in the field instead

Anyhow,,,

It's more fun to shoot at, however it's a bit more of a challenge getting the arrows out of it oppose to the 'BLOCK' target box that I have.

I'll try to get a bow hunt in over the next few days during our heatwave.

Some additional preparation arrived today. I bit the bullet and bought some First Lite gear. Super pleased with the fit and feel out of the box. This is the Sawtooth Hybrid jacket and Obsedian pants. The pants are flat out perfect. The jacket is a touch long in the sleeves, which is rare for me, but a L would be too small in the chest, so it'll have to work. I got black so it could be my dedicated ground blind jacket and in a tree, it'll be worn under another layer of outerwear.

Talk about reviving a fun thread. Even I couldn't stop laughing at myself in many of my posts in here.

Anyhow, thanks @bowhunter1023 for sharing your new getup with us! They certainly appear to be real nice and I can only hope they work out for ya as well as they look.

I have to say 'TOO', I really enjoyed going back through this thread, so thanks for that as well! I seem to be right on pace this year as I was back then, which is good to know.

Love that cipher pattern... I have a few things in that for when I ground hunt in the marshes. Those obsidian pants are great but they usually fade pretty bad over time. Not a big deal, obviously. They still function perfect and are incredibly comfortable, and durable for what they are. I’ve got a pair of the corrugate guide pants that are a bit more stretchy and hold the color longer (more polyester?) Hard to go wrong with First Lite stuff.

I've been shooting some 3D competitions and doing some backyard practice to stay sharp with the muscle memory and shooting skills.
Otherwise, I upgraded my coyote rifle and added some upgrades to the accessories on it. Gotta keep those fawn killers thinned out! (y)

Good hunting, Bowhunter57

Talk to me Elmo. Looks like they're having a sale on select items. Been in the fence between First Lite and Sitka. Time to hand my Wild Things gear down to my kids and get me some stuff that fits. Lol

The rain is cutting into my evening practice at the moment, so I went ahead and changed out all of my Mathews Roller Dampers & String Stops from Black to Red. My bow is about 10 years old now and it's seen many hours in the field and I've never changed them out before. I wanted TOO change up the look a little bit. Going for more of a RED BLOOD theme this season. Whatdoya think???

I've bought a bunch more since I posted that pic. I now own a pair of the Kiln Long John bottoms with the Kiln Quarter-Zip top, a Ranger Stretch Snapshirt, the Corrugate Guide Pants, the Catalyst Vest, their Leafy Suit Jacket, a neck gaiter, beanie, and one of their new travel bags. Everything I've received is of a high quality. I've worn the Obsidian pants a good bit now and love them. My only caution to you is that their stuff is designed to fit dudes shaped like me and JB, not so much you and JW. It's more a length thing than a girth thing. (That's what she said...) Example being, you may want an XL top to fit your chest, but an XL Kiln Long John top on you would look like pant legs, not shirt sleeves.

First day looks good for the folks that can get out in it. Me not so much.... ...bbbuutttt ....I prayed for rain and was answered, .66" yesterday and .88" so far today.

For folks that like to be educated to (Listen not read ) - here's a quick review for you and your gear.
