What was your first rabbit gun?

Posted this question on another site and it got a lot of replies....some buying their first while others were given grandpa’s old shotgun.....several using less popular gauges like the .28 and .16....what was your first rabbit gun?

New England single shot 20 gauge. I mowed and raked leaves in the neighborhood that fall to buy my first gun.

Had the hammer slap fire on me...twice! After the second time it happened I took a saw to that POS. Killed a lot of game with that gun...Good times!

Christmas 1975 I got my first long box. 20 gauge H&R Youth Topper.

Killed my first rabbit with it 2 years later. I layed the rabbit on back porch when I got home while I went inside to grab a bowl. When I came back out the rabbit was gone. Old Dutchess had it in her dog house. I figured she deserved it and let her keep it since I got two that day.

I shot my first rabbit with an FIE single barrel 12.

Mine was an old bolt action Mossberg 20 gauge that had a Poly choke on the end. Thing weighed a ton, but it did shoot well.

I started off with a single shot .410 dad gave me for Christmas many years ago. If I remember correctly he got it from Montgomery Wards. Wish I still had it or could remember what make it was. I want to say a Remington but for the life of me I can't remember lol.

Still have the bow killed plenty of rabbits with that bow
As well a few pheasants, squirrels and even a couple quail
When I turned 9 I got an HR topper 20 gauge

Grandfather's Stevens 12 ga. pump, 28" full choke. Had to learn the hard way not to shoot rabbits too close.

I started out with a single shot 16 gauge.... Probably if I remember correctly was shooting Revelation Ammo from Western Auto... Boy I'll bet no one remembers those stores, they sold a little bit of everything....

I never really did much rabbit hunting growing up but did a fair amount of squirrel hunting, my first shotgun was a NEF single shot .410

first rabbit gun was a Ben Pearson Cougar recurve bow. I wish I still had my first squirrel gun, though. H&R single shot .410. I don't recall the model since it got stolen out of our house by a burgler when I was 12.
