Thanks fellas. So far its been a positive day. I bought here a wine cabinet to honor the occasion. I was able to get it in the house while she was at work yesterday. So it was a big surprise when she got home from work this morning. We have dinner reservations for Friday night with no kids, thanks to one of the other youth football coaches. Good times ahead.

My mom is watching the kid tomorrow so we can hunt. Tracie hasn't bowhunted since 2011, so she's eager to get out. I'm ready to go now that I've solved my bow issue. Should be a fun hunt for us. Get to enjoy the duck blind Saturday AM, the scouting a new property of mine. Going to hang stands to hunt Sunday AM. Should be a fun weekend outside!

TOO good is being on a bowhunt with my best friend for the first time since October 23, 2011 when she killed her first deer with a compound. We brought plenty of snacks and have shared some good laughs so far, just like the old days.

Off to ride in a poker run in the rain. wasnt going to go since running behind. Talked to husband of my friend who the ride is to benefit. She has cancer and they have their oldest of 5 in Afghanistan serving Marines. Youngest is a newborn. He told me if I am on my way he isnt pulling out until I get there. Being led by sheriff. Just awesomeness. Now off I go to support he family.

What's NOT GOOD TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back from deer camp. Hit a six point Thursday. Remember those debates about shooting a deer head on? DON"T FUGGING do it. Very little blood and then lost all together! Came home yesterday DISGUSTED with my stupidity!!!!!!!!! The guys found him this AM while looking for a Deer Pieman hit this AM. That is the found what was left of him! Yotes had eatin most of him and what was let is spoiled. Bolt was still inside the body cavity but that deer went 400 yards over some very tough territory! Most have really suffered. I hate myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing to hate yourself over, Ted. Its a bad shot on deer, you know that. It's part of being human to make mistakes, you made one, don't do it again. I've been reading "Big Dan's Frontal shot" on the elk thread on bowsite...had me thinking I needed to shoot a whitetail like that, I haven't and won't. I'd almost bet you read the same thing.... I let Krista shoot a heck of a buck straight in the chest back in 93. She made a "perfect" shot. Just for clarity, as I know you are familiar with the area, she shot that buck behind the dam at Hargus. I tracked that sucker all the way around the south end of the lake and found him right behind Rubin Jones' house. I never found a bed but had blood almost the entire way...that's got to be three miles....? Never again... But don't hate yourself for giving in to the temptation!

Went out this morning for some squirrels and got a couple and then made squirrel nuggets for lunch. The brats were fresh out of the smoker and had one for lunch. The summer sausage is in the smoker now and the jerky will go in Monday or so.

Life is good

Sounds tasty, Doug. I may go shoot some squirrels in the morning if I feel energetic. How do you turn squirrels into nuggets? Did you simply debone and fry or is there more to it?
