Kaydence's first ever XC season came to end today in a wet, cold race for the 7th and 8th grade OSHAA State Invitational. She finish 130 out of 292 runners with a 14:48 in the 2-mile, which was 5 seconds off her PR. Not bad for crappy running conditions. Their team finished 8th out of 36 teams, also not bad for a bunch of hillbillies from BFE SE Ohio. She's grown a lot physically and mentally in the last year and she's ready to transition into basketball. The strength and conditioning she gained after running 2 miles a day, 5 days a week for 2.5 months is about to pay off where she loves to be the most, on the court balling it up!
Lots of stuff going good in my neck of the woods. Been awhile since I checked in here...thanks @giles for checking up on me.
Earlier this year I decided to propose to my longtime girlfriend, Amy. I've known her since college back in 1990 and Ive lived with her here in Ohio since 2013. That decision kicked of a bunch of other decisions culminating in a simultaneous wedding/honeymoon in Alaska this last summer. We spent 3 weeks in AK. Got married in the Ice Museum/Ice Bar in Chena Springs. The bartender was the witness to the festivities. The Game of Thrones cloaks were not our idea...they were provided since the museum is kept at 24 degrees F year round.
And then...as if that wasn't enough...I acquired a black lab puppy named Lexi from friends in NC. This has been a much more jarring change than the marriage. And yes...she's chewing on a paint roller. To get an idea of size...she's 31 lbs at 4 months. I was not prepared.
So....I have had absolutely zero chance to prepare for deer season. I haven't sat in the woods since this time last year. Probably won't sit until after the pup is under control and Ive come back from my annual Missouri gun hunt in November.
