Actually I can post it here again when it’s finished.
My daughter text today. Said she finished scheduling her next semester of college. It is also her last semester of college. Ho-lee cow! That went fast. Not over yet, but still blows my mind.

When my wife and I met she sent me a picture of the worlds “cutest” sheep. These are known as Valais black nose sheep. She told me if we moved to the farm she would be getting them. Unfortunately they weren’t available in the US. A couple years ago the US allowed semen to be shipped in from New Zealand so a breed up program could be started. Essentially you take a heritage sheep from the US and cross it with the Valais black nose until they are 98% Valais black nose. Then they can be registered as purebred. She twisted my arm hard enough and we invested last year. Well she just had first 75% Valais black nose sheep born on the farm at 12 AM. We are pumped!

Recently mentioned our daughter is close to graduating college. This kid has been on fire lately. She will be graduating a semester early with a double major (journalism and professional writing) and a minor in Spanish.
Last summer she did an internship in western NY at The Chautauquan Daily. I probably botched the spelling but she didn't edit this post for me.
While there, Salman Rushdie delivered (or attempted to deliver) a speech. He was stabbed multiple times within a 2 min walk of where Graci was located. The kids were frazzled, but she was texting us to let us know she was okay. She kept a level head and was actually pissed they wouldn't let her (or any of the interns) pursue the "breaking story". Many of her co-workers were in venue for the speech and some of the photographers had captured amazing live pics of the events unfolding. They were not allowed to use any of it. The Associate Press or the newspaper they were working for (or some governing authority) disallowed it. Later I told her to get used to being screened and moderated by "the powers that be". She already knew this. However. . .it didn't stop her from writing an article for the Miami school magazine explaining the events from her perspective.
Fast forward to this semester and her professor encouraged her to submit it under the "feature article" category for a national journalism competition. Today she at the ceremony (for her region) to see who the winner would be. I'm not sure the protocol. I would assume the winner would be entered in the national competition. She ended with the runner up award and some great experience. Super proud moments in parenting. She wants even going to attend the banquet. We encouraged her. (Her mother offered to escort her and pay for the trip.) Turns out the school took them to Chicago for the ceremony. Sure would have liked to see her go onto the national finals, but it wasn't meant to be. Hoping she was able to do some networking. She will be looking for a job as the school year comes to an end. If nothing else, this will look fantastic on her resume. She will do well wherever she winds up. Not being biased. She will. Level headed kid. Mature. Responsible. Driven. Not sure how it happened. Had to be her mother's genes. I'm far from mature, level headed, or responsible.

Spring has been bringing us some good things here so far on the farm.
One of our milkers gave us a beautiful heifer calf and she is now giving us some really nice milk. Check out thay cream line!
Also got a milk cooler the other day on a super good deal. It's running great and cooling our milk down wonderfully.
I got our new brooder finished "The broodmaster 9000" it's working out great with the divider and can easily house 100 small chicks.

Been making some trades with local folks for goods as well. Traded some milk for some local honey this week and some meat for bronze turkey hatching eggs and muscovy duck hatching eggs.

After reading her article it’s sounds like she was experiencing a serious case of PTSD. Hope she continues to get better and finds a job she loves and can grow close to home.

Well we managed to put out a second podcast. I’m actually pretty introverted but I’ve enjoyed doing this with my wife. We’ve both been surprised by the amount of positive feedback and the requests for more content. Lol we’ll see where this goes and if we can continue making time for it. The link below should work. That’s a slammer of an 8 you got! Congratulations on that and for a great farm family! Love the last photo! Wishing you continued success with the podcast! We need more of this and a lot less of the other crap bringing us down.
