We both also worked a lot together on sanding down and restaining a side piece to my wife’s old bedroom suit she had as a teenager. It was a solid oak side piece with doors which we removed so it now matches the rest of our furniture. Shelby’s BF is very motivated and knowledgeable on doing many creative ideas you can find on the net so he implied he’d like to help on wiring the lighting so I just helped while he soldered wires. Long story short here’s our new wine rack and booze center next to a barrel table we bought off the feller I got the barrels from and the cabinet idea from.

I wish I knew how much time I spent on each piece/barrel but an hour here, 4 there, 10 here and 45 minutes there while looking out at my yard that needed mowing keeping track was the least of my worries. Lol
You can get a good whiskey barrel for $80-$90 but make sure wasn’t used for ale or beer as the guy said they’re cheaper but will mold very fast once air gets to it.

Wow, that’s not bad…. I figured they’re more than that….

Thanks Clay!
My wife is getting something made to commemorate my up coming retirement that I’ll share when it’s finished and received.

I’ll also be bringing home a few more barrels that I can work on between other projects! It'll be so much more relaxing working around the house, on the house or just fuggin around the house without having to worry about going to work for “the man!” Lol

Just finished my second liquor cabinet. This one is a bit different than my first one. This one I sanded the exterior before applying 3 coats of polyurethane. I also installed a lazy Susan so the bottom shelf spins. I also lowered the top shelf to hold short bottles like Crown and Patron and such.

There was even some liquor and sediment still in this barrel and it smelled incredibly delicious when I first popped the door open. I scooped up all of the liquor and soaked wood chips I could get and put it in a sealed container to use like a scented candle at times when friends are over. Lol👍🏻🥃
The next barrel I will work on will be the one Tam got for me for my retirement.
