Had 3 boxes show up this week that were needed to assemble a decent little range. I had a permanent setup at the old house, but hadn't done it here because I knew I'd be tearing our fence and opening up the yard in a way that would give me ideas for how to set a few permanent targets. One thing I needed was a crossbow rated target, so I snagged one from Cabelas and traded in some card points to get a solid deal. I also found a steal of a Delta full strut turkey on eBay, and a Glen-Del whitetail. I'll set everything up this weekend and snap a pic.

Now that I have targets, I need things to fling at them. I did 2 versions tonight and damn near executed a perfect build. The ones on the left are 487.4, 487.4, and 487.2 grains respectively. They're a right helical 3-fletch using NockOn vanes. The ones on the right are 498.2, 498, and 497.8 grains respectively. They're a straight 4-fletch. So I built 6 arrows that were 0.6 grains out of spec. To put that in perspective, I had points ranging from 124.6 to 126.2 in the same package. One of these days I'll get 6 to match straight across the board!

@brock ratcliff, I bought it at Wally World on closeout and bought some just on your recommendation. So far, I'm pleased. I had some issues with my first batch that were user error (terrible jig setup on my part). I'm questioning the NockOn vanes a little too. The Fusions have a nice, wide base that creates a natural suction that the NockOn vanes simply can't offer. The glue definitely lays down nice and dries clear, so I haven't found any complaints.

A friend of mine bought a bow for his teenage son recently. He picked it up from someone on eBay for a cheap price. Diamond Infinite Edge Pro. Real nice little bow. Well, long story short, he brought it over for initial setup a few weeks ago and I discovered that the bottom cam was bent, big time. He was pretty disheartened. So much for getting a good deal. After visiting a local dealer, he got a new cam shipped from Bowtech and brought it back over for me to work on.

These Infinite model bows are pretty cool. If you're not familiar, they have adjustable draw modules that allow the bow to be setup anywhere from like 18-30" draw length and 15-70 lbs draw weight. It's an engineering marvel. This one I was setting up for a 27" draw length and a 60 lb draw weight. The cams have timing marks on them that are supposed to be lined up with the cables at brace, when the cams are timed properly. Well... those timing marks are close, but they're not exact that's for sure. After a half hour of back and forth from the draw board to the press, I had the cams timed and sync'd with each other. The draw modules have big flat draw stops on them which make for a pretty solid back wall.

Reset the rest height. Eye-balled the centershot. And tied in a new nock set and d-loop. Today I took it outside to fire a few shots from it. Obviously the 27" DL was not ideal for me, but I got it to shoot pretty darn good. Right out of the gate it grouped a bare shaft with two fletched arrows at 20 yards. I'd say that's good enough, tater. A little bit nock-right, but these arrows were .340 and overspined, so that was expected.

If you or anyone you know is wanting to try archery and wants a bow they can truly "grow into," these little Diamond bows seem pretty tough to beat. The adjustment range is incredible and I'm very impressed with the tunability and shootability.

Here’s a quick question some of you may be able to help me with. I’ve been a huge fan of winners choice strings for nearly 20 years. They were purchased by the Outdoor Group. Anything they take over is immediately turned into Walmart grade crap. What are some strings you guys would recommend? Keep in mind, we shoot more arrows in a week than most shoot in a year, or two. I’ve tried Proline, they are crap so if someone had that in mind I’ll save you the effort. I just was not impressed with my last set of WC

Proline strings are definitely just “average.” My current preferred strings come from 60X Custom Strings. I’ve had a couple sets and have been very pleased.

Good. I love that stuff. Quick and strong as any I’ve used.

What brand is this? I use the AAE MaxBond with the Primer pen and have had great results. With that exception of some Fusion 2.5s that I bought from Lancaster. I sent fusion an email about the adhesion issue, the base material was stiffer and thicker than the base on the other color I had. Their engineer guy called me to discuss the issue I had. They immediately sent me two new boxes. As it turns out it was an old base material and they have since redesigned it. Lancaster was sent a letter to return any old inventory for new inventory two years ago but they never did.

I was SO close to buying one of these last year. I shot it and really liked it but ended up preferring and buying the Mission MXR. This one was a VERY close second

It’s Bohning fletch fuse. Cheap, quick and strong.

Anyone playing around or thinking about heavy FOC builds? Being that THP is pumping out videos now with Ranch Fairy, I expect it to catch on or at least grab attention. Pretty impressive what they did to some pigs.

I haven’t sharpened a broadhead since I’ve moved away from fixed blades. I’ve also noticed a huge difference in sound on contact. Every deer I’ve shot with these mechanicals I swore it was a bad shot because of the sound.

I’ve got a pile of these heads left and told myself I wasn’t changing till next off season...I gotta stop watching this guys videos. 😂

I watched those episodes, but I haven't done any tweaking. I'm already heavily spined, heavy in weight at over 500 grains, and slightly high in FOC with my arrows and they fly really well. I did order some brass inserts so I could build some "other end of the spectrum" FOC arrows that will be in 600 grain range. We'll see how they fly once I get them built.
