Well you better be careful..... You might start calling your wife: ' JUNIOR '......

Wif'e's uncle, nic,ked named 'Junior' all his life. He has since passed. He was most definitely 'Old School' regarding most anything in life. When I first met him, it was at our wedding. He introduced himself to me by stating; "if I ever hear that girl crying because of you, you'll have hell to pay!" . Then proceeded to open up his jacket, and grabbed his snub nose at the waist, just to prove that he was completely serious. I loved that man from that moment on! I'll never forget him. ever!

7:30PM, Sunday, December 18, 2022: 'Bonus Gun Weekend Over':

Thank God!

Anyway, the TCs at our place are showing no activity, and have not been since my last post. Not good! No shot heard though, yet hunters within the immediate area.

However, at the other farm, just what I expected.

Late notice, I know when informed them, but I gave out two different invites to hunt this farm over the weekend, out of my setup, and they could've shot whatever they wanted.

If any of the mature resident bucks show up here soon, I'll report back, otherwise I'll include them in a later update.

Congratulations to all the successful Whitetail Deer rifle hunters!

Good night all!

Video description:

Junior showed up shortly after the official ending of the 2022 GUN SEASON. Can't quite put it into meaningful words of just how happy I am to see that he actually made it passed all the flying bullets this weekend. That's just awesome!

Still waiting on the other two seniors to show though.

Feeling like the worried parent of an unruly teenager once again, wondering where the hell they're at?

Damn deer, anyhow, still a 'no-show' for 'SHYBUC', which is a little concerning, but he's done this before, usually when the human pressure gets to be over the top for him. If that's the case, it may be weeks before I see him again.

So, you kind folks will just have to settle for another 'Junior' update :ROFLMAO:

He showed up again moments ago.

9:30PM, Monday, December 19, 2022: 'The Three Duo Made it Again'

'SHYBUC's ears must have been ringing  because he showed up at the home feed-station about the time I was catching up right here on the forum.

Anyhow, what can I say other than I do believe I'm gonna have another wonderful Christmas now that all three of my boys are okay, and my other two will be here this weekend. Yup, things are really starting to shape up for me, as if someone is in control :ROFLMAO:

Here you go, the very latest clip added to this year's video playlist.

Has he always had a bobtail?

No, thanks for pointing that out, Dave! Not that I have ever seen his tail straight in the air before, because I haven't that I recall, but that tail does look rather short doesn't it, hmm. I'll pay more attention to his future captures, see if anything funny is goin on.

I can careless about their sheds Rich. Yes, they bed close. I want all of their antlers when they're harvested in the future. That's all I care about pretty much. I've got too many shed and skulls laying around already, and I always find them during my travels, especially throughout my coyote hunts.

7:30PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2022: 'Another day, a dollar short'

Left the workshop @1:30PM. arrived @theotherfarm @2:30.

Loaded up the toboggan sled with 100lbs. of whole corn and then took off headed for the two temporary fed sites that I laid out back during December 13th. One in the cornfield that's straight out in front of the pop-up ground blind, and the other is where I used to have the automatic corn dispenser and the only trail camera left on the property that covers it.

After I took care of the deer, I went and cutdown another big old standing Ash Tree.

Loaded up the large heavy cuts of firewood, then headed down the highway for home.

Once I arrived at the workshop, I threw some firewood in the wood stove, unloaded the pickup truck, and put away all of the wood work tools & supplies.

I should be good on firewood for all my animals until sometime towards the end of next week, however I'll most likely get out and grab me another load before muzzleloader season gets here. I need to fill up and replenish the barn carport area again with firewood. I'll get there sooner or later. Today was just another beautiful day to be out and get these things taken care of before the next big brutal artic winter blast gets here over the next couple of days.

Bought me a new muscle car 2023 calendar too during today's travels. I couldn't resist and yes, it was a knee-jerk compulsive buy. Oh yes, I just had to get it

Slideshow of all photographs taken throughout my travels, and whatever work accomplished this afternoon.

7:00AM, Thursday, December 22, 2022: 'Lost Nanny'

Quick-update regarding one of the eldest does that lived within the immediate area and produced twins every year around here. Well, she got hit by a car last night, and died. I'm going to be taking care her this morning, right after this post, and take her to the creek, away from the road. It's a real sad situation, to she her go, believing that she was one of the original does that has been living here ever since I moved here. If you were review any of feed-station video clips over the past few years, you couldn't miss her. She was the big cow that lead and educated the local group of antlerless deer around these parts.

Attached a couple of the latest buck TC captures, both here and @theotherfarm so far for today, just as a feel good positive outlook from the previous news.

I've been procrastinating all day today, piddling around the shop and barn, preparing for this supposed wicked artic storm that will be here in a few hours from now.

Anyhow, I finally finished up splitting and stacking yesterdays firewood haul from the other farm. It's this kind of honest work that always takes me back to when I was a kid living on the Northshore of Oneida Lake. It was a must do every year back then, dealing with all the lake effect snowstorms and unbrittled winds.

This is how I stay in good physical & mental shape each year throughout the gloom and doom winter months, this and hunting. It's funny how life has become full circle for me, well it seems like it anyways.

I just want to thank our Dear Lord for providing me the strength, the will and determination to get threw Mother Nature's next show. I have access to plenty of great food that was previously harvested this year from around here and @theotherfarm, now a nice warm place for me, the wife and all of our loving animals to enjoy time together.

I just wanted to include this tidbit of ours within my journal (which has become my daily diary lately 😊), that basically captures the moment of my preparedness, for the sake of my family, home and everything else I care about.

I do reflect back each year and refer to my journals quite often. This will be just another crazy story during this timeframe the will be documented and captured for future reference.

I'm now about to run out and refill all my fuel cans and exchange one 20gal propane bottle. We should be completely good to go and shouldn't have any problems in getting through the next few days, unless we receive some real unforgiving winds and we get sever wind damage of some sort, like one or a few of our big trees come down or something.

I'll be praying for everyone that I know tonight when I finally get the chance to sit down and relax. I think we're in pretty good shape and shouldn't have any difficultly with dealing with this up and coming storm.

I attached some bonus photos as well, which is what is currently going on at one of the feed sites, which looks like all of them are starting to get real active now.

Good night all and take good care over the next few days!

Denny
