5:00AM, Monday, December 26, 2022: 'IT'S OVER'

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Day like I did at least and staying nice and warm.

Anyway, I'm gonna call the end to this storm to be this afternoon at noon for the next video project of mine. Like I mentioned previously, I will be making a video after I collect all the data from the trail cameras showing all the deer activity and movement times before, during and after the storm passed. I believe this time around, this video will have better everything verse my last storm video of the same type showing of deer activity/movement throughout my neck of the woods.

I do believe at this very moment, that there is not nearly the same amount of deer activity and movement going on currently, but still decent, or what I consider, about normal.

Below are just some of the TC captures at each of the three different locations that I have a camera at currently.

I will not be doing this amount of trail camera sharing after the next storm video drop, just so you all know.

Have a fantastic day 'TOO'crew!

@homefeedstation

Great to see Junior up and about...
Yes, yes it is, Rich! He's back to his ole-self once again and has been since the beginning of the month from what I can tell. He's back to harassing the ladies regularly again, waking them up out of their beds if they aren't up already, always corralling them out into the nearby fields. He's taken over that role from 'Thunder' when last year 'Thunder' was pretty much nocturnal all year long. The only time I ever saw him (Thunder) in daylight last year was during the very peak or the annual kickoff here of the rut. I had what I recall, three other encounters with him (Thunder) after that, all within daylight legal hours, but the closets he ever got to me when archery hunting was approximately 50-55 yards, and trust me, I was hooked up when he came through, just wait'en on him, just too far away for me to feel completely confident about taking the shot. and I certainly did not what to miss nor push him off the property for good. Now that I truly believe 'Thunder' became one of the victims of the EHD outbreak around here, 'Junior' quite naturally stepped up and took over, which is one of the coolest things to witness from the stand., when he's at work :)

Anyhow, more history regarding our local deer herd. I really want 'Junior' and 'Shybuc' to growout to their upmost fulliest potiental or close to it before ever attempting to hunt them. I believe this is perhaps my last shot of getting another real big one on the wall maybe. The other farm has a few currently that I know are much better than anything else I've got here @home.

Copy that! Already planned on it as soon as I can get to it. I need more firewood first, then I'll get to the cameras and fed sites after that. It's like you've read my mind :D

How do you think he got the wound?

Hey Nick, congrats again on your buck, just awesome!

I have a few theories or thoughts, and each one doesn't please me at all, but anyhow, only one, possibly two puts him in an area where a stranger can potentially get to him without breaking the law.

I think someone trespassed that saw him previously and tried to arrow him in an open field at a later time, like a CRP or Cornfield nearby. That's what I think happened and it happened pretty darn close.

I would love to proven wrong though, that would be awesome!

The deer activity and/or movement has slowed today, at both farms, however, @theotherfarm , there was good midday deer activity of multiple deer.

The home fed sites are becoming somewhat busy, but not like the past three days, at this moment. So, based on what I've observed throughout today, I believe that things are about to go back to normal regarding deer movement regular times and patterns pretty much, which basically means that as the temps continue to rise, some deer will venture out further away, browsing, gracing for different foods, and I will not expect to see as many deer at the fed sites here at home perhaps the rest of the week.

I'll work on the storm video project later this week.

Good night all!

None of the big boys showed tonight or yet here @home. One of my latest habits is to check my cams before hitting the pillow for the night. Figured I'd go ahead and share a few more from this evening, including a good one from the other farm.

All the big boys here @home were a 'no show' last night in the first time in about a week. Deer activity around here this morning is normal, which is slow. Below are the latest antlered deer that stepped in front of a camera. Approximately a dozen deer visited overnight, which is less than the previous five days.

Denny... You ever put sweet feed out with your corn...
Yes, in August. Been doin a trial & error study thing since I placed the feed troughs. So far, it's whole corn, and to be honest, I have a feeling that's not going to change. Yeah, there are others that will turn them on real quick, however, it's the corn that they consume the most always. That's what I have concluded so far anyway.

1:30PM, 12/27/22: 'THE BIG THAW'

Very slow @home still currently, but @theotherfarm, things seem to be steady. Temps continue to rise, the snow & ice are melting at a good click too.

The dinner bell has rung and they're showing up at the feed sites now after being absent all day.
