This is all really sad. My Grandson is only 5 years old. I told him we needed to get him shooting the crossbow better so he could get a deer this year. His reply was "Can I shoot him with an AK47 ?" I said WHAT? Son, you don't shoot deer with an AK47. "Well, that's what you shoot Zombies with" was his reply. My daughter say's it came from the Xbox 360.......Good guidance should help with the thoughts I hope. I am gratefull I got to grow up playing baseball and running the creeks and woods..... Sounds like I had better get busy with the creeks and woods more!

I heard the TV News blaming video games last night.

I played Contra, Doom, Duke Nukem, etc...

None of it made me think life was less precious. It is just an excuse for parents that don't take part in their kids lives. They don't raise themselves....properly at least.

If they are 12 and still don't know right and wrong, then all those growing up emotions hit, it can be too much IMHO. Especially for a kid that had previous emotional issues.

Just like my daughter's T-Ball league.....they don't keep score, there are no outs, everybody gets to bat, etc......

Yay! Everyone is a winner!:smiley_depressive:

i stuck up for a kid that was getting bullied by another kid, the bully was 18 i was 16, i got suspended for a week and they tried to press charges on on me and i was a minor, they threw it out of court but his parents pushed it hard cuz there little boy had to go get 12 stiches, they thought he was a angel and did nothing wrong, he was a real piece of shit tho i dont think he messed with any kids the rest of the time he was in school.

That's how most of the bullies we had growing up stopped being bullies. I'll never forget one of my buddies getting his nose broke after lunch one day. We were in 8th grade and the thing do at that time was take a handful of pubes and drop them on peoples desks or put them in their books. We were walking back from lunch one day and he took a handful and walked up behind one of the "nerdy" kids and threw them in his face. Nothing happened until an hour later at class change when we were at our lockers. I saw someone tap on his shoulder and BAM!!! A hammer punch to the face dropped him right there in front of the lockers and the blood started flowing. The kid that hit him didn't get in trouble because of what prompted it. No way that would happen now...

But nobody got stupid and started shooting. I am guessing the bully was a bully for whatever reason. The kid or kids getting bullied put up with it because they were taught to take responsibility for their actions. You did the right thing for standing up for someone getting picked on. Nobody went ballistic in the schools. Difference between being raised right or thrown to the wolves. It doesn't have to end in a shootout. You took your suspension and went on with your life. Things aren't like that anymore.

Lot's of bluffers out there this week. At least I hope so. I know of 3 Portage Co. schools this week that had threatening reports, Waterloo, Crestwood, and Ravenna. My wife works at Ravenna schools. These threats are being dealt with real time by the police. Sad world we live in.

Here's the local newspaper article: http://www.recordpub.com/news/article/5162373

I agree that the video game excuse is wrong, but there is no comparing the games you played with what is out there now. The games now are realistic as hell.

If the kid doesn't know the difference between tv, video games and real life....how real life they are still is not the issue.

i never had video games growing up, i dont have a problem with them i think its more of a way for the parents to not have to pay attention to there kids, put them in front of the tv and let em go, my friends are all like this they will sit for hours or days playing games, and they think im strange for going mushroom hunting or cutting hay, they dont understand why i do the things i do just like i dont understand how they can sit for hours and play games, just the difference in how we are all brought up i guess.
