Putting this back up for anyone wanting to go to the shoot at Mao's. I am still going and looking forward to it.

It was postponed until Sunday anyway. I drove down and looked for birds, pulled in the drive for the shoot, and postponed. Dang! After over 3 hours of driving I wasn't going to come back on Sunday.

I am going to shoot up at Handlebar Ranch (Mt. Gilead) on Wednesday night if anyone wants to join. Outdoor, 30 targets. That is if the weather holds.

I am shooting rain or shine tomorrow at Cardinal. It is a World Qualifier and things keep getting in the way of shooting. I worked up there until 7pm to get the final touches done. Anyone else going to go to the shoot?

I wont be down there until the triple crown. Let us know how it is! My prediction is super flat, a world of change from nelsonville!

Nope not flat at all. They are setting up a whole new course for the Triple Crown. 160 targets all at different locations on the property. It looks really wicked for the "Pro" course. One is a 35 yard shot almost straight down through the V of a huge maple. They are going to put the Senior classes on the flat course that is currently there....and that we are shooting today.

No rain yet!

How much property do they have???? Is this all on site? or do you have to drive to different places for the other courses

They have 400 acres on the Cardinal Site. The guy that owns the place owns a bunch of land. The other courses are a mile away and they are going to shuttle people if they want it. The trap houses there are over a mile long put together by themselves. This should be much nicer than Nelsonville IMHO. Forget shooting in the muddy beanfield!

I am 99% sure I qualified for Worlds. I was terribly sick to my stomach that morning. It was pouring most of the day and it was really windy. 30 targets and I shot a 285. Not my best by far but not bad considering I puked twice on the course ;) had a 101.5 temp when I got home.

I have been in my bed from the time I got home yesterday until now. I was determined to finally get another shoot in.

I shot Cardinal's 3D range a couple times early this afternoon. My first round of 3D for the year... To say I was a bit rusty would certainly be an understatement. :smiley_depressive: Although I didn't lose any arrows, I managed a 205 and a 203 out of a possible 253 (only shot 23 targets). Shooting-wise I was actually feeling good, but my yardage estimation left a lot to be desired. Pretty much every one of my shots outside the 10-ring were either high or low. For the first time in my archery "career," I have my pins set to something other than 20-30-40-50. Right now I have them at 26-35-50. I'm really digging the 26 pin because it's damn near flat from 10 to 26 yards. But that second pin was really giving me fits today. I struggled hitting high on a lot of 28-33 yarders and hitting low on the 40+ yarders. I think I'm going to have to experiment with that a bit more to see if it works for me or not.

Beener, what the hell is that animal at like the 6th or 7th target? The one that is dark on its back and white on its belly. That damn thing really tricked me on both rounds. From the stake, it looks so far away... when really it's only around 30 yds I think. I shot right over its back on the second round... Lucky for me, this small tree was kind enough to catch my arrow for me.

Eat your heart out, Wayne! lmao

As usual, the tough-as-nails Easton Flatline comes out completely unscathed...

knock that 35 pin down to about 32 and see if that helps. set your 3rd to about 38.

Yea, I'll have to give that a try. I was hoping to stay away from having cluttered pins, but this stupid Strother is just too fast! lol

Oh and I forgot to mention... Anyone that's planning on shooting at Cardinal any time soon, be sure to bring the Repel and/or Thermacell. The skeeters are getting awfully hungry in them woods. That's something I failed to consider when I walked in there wearing shorts, flip-flops, and a cutoff tshirt.... Trying to blow mosquitoes away from your face while you're at full draw doesn't help the scores much. lol

You guys are nuts with your pin settings. Not even the great Milo will ever convince me otherwise! :)

Yea, I don't know man. It's too early for me to tell if I truly like it this way or not. I've ALWAYS shot 20-30-40 so now it's just weird having to think of gapping pins differently than before.

That is exactly what would throw me for a loop. I am so familiar with thinking "More than 30, less than 40, split 'em" or something along those lines that I just couldn't function otherwise...and can't for the life of me figure out why I would try to change what has always worked. I understand Milo's thoughts on the matter, but I don't focus on a pin anyway. My anchor in theory should be the same due to using the housing vs a pin. I suppose that would change if I were a fan of moveable sights, but I am not due to altering anchors. Whatever works for the shooter I suppose, and I know Milo's way works for him!
