Didn't make it out. Dad and I cut firewood and then had a ballgame for my son. My buddy and 2 other guys shed hunted his property while dad and I cut away. They came back empty handed. I think we are just a tad early like you said.

Well, I got some exercise today, 3-4 miles anyway. Hunted from 9:00-1:00 walked 3 bean fields, then hit this hillside covered in honeysuckle and greenbriers. I was a little discouraged, the farmer did some brush hogging in my wheelhouse, opening up the bedding area. The deer sign isn't as heavy as it was last year. All in all, it was enjoyable and productive.

Got out for a bit with the kids today. Had no expectations other than fresh air and some exercise. No sheds were found but both kids found rubs on their own so I was proud of that. Followed a rub line into a bending area where we found some freshly vacated beds in the snow. Got to use that as a teaching moment. Kids were looking everywhere for beds the rest of our walk.

Yeah, Jimmy is right on! Nothing like taking your kids out for a stroll in the woods. It's early yet, and you will find some horns soon. Good luck Sean.

What I wouldnt give to be off on vacation for the next month or so! Lol. My work is starting to pick up and I am in Columbus today, working on 270 near Grove City. Heading for Piqua tonight to set iron on I-75 tomorrow. I had some discouraging news yesterday. The farmer that has the land that I do most of my shed hunting on, is going to lease it for hunting. FUGG! Hopefully it will work itself out. Sad thing is, out of 140 acres only 20 of it is wooded. We will see how it goes?

Walked between 1.5-2 miles this afternoon and found a drop from last year of a buck I have history with last year and this year. There it laid in the middle of a tractor path with rubber tire smears and alittle rodent damage. He must have dropped it after heavy greenup this past spring cuz I walked thru here last late march early April. Fugg

Pulled it up out of the dirt pic

Cleaned up

This makes 6 so far. 2 old and 4 fresh

Remember when we talked before, I told you leasing was like a cancer and it would mean the end of hunting as we know it. Our children and grandchildren will never see the hunting freedom we have enjoyed, it's a matter of time.
