The Tom's are just going crazy here. Sounding off all day. About time to set the 2 ground blinds up on both pastures.

Took time, but Joe and I finally found a few. Theyre so predictable as far as going to where you know to find them. Just blows my mind that different birds will pattern the same way as birds in previous years.

Yesterday morning, I woke up late from taking a healthy dose of Benadryl to cure my poison ivy rash.....aww this sucks....another story...anyway, got my morning coffee and went out on the back porch. Right off the bat I heard 3 different birds, in 3 different locations.....Hammering! Its getting crazy!

Hey Hoyt, the winter flock is still all together and were out struttin tonight....

Man that sounds great. I will probably have to hook up with you. I am embarrassed as all get out to admit it but I couldn't even tell you what date opening day is. I am so far out of the loop and distracted its pathetic. I am ashamed of myself as a hunter and outdoorsman altogether. Huckster and the rest of you might have to snap me out of this slump I'm in.:smiley_blackeye::smiley_asswhip::smiley_asswhip:

The last turkey I saw with in range, was on my plate on Thanksgiving! Lol.

Seriously, saw 60 in one group at 200 yards and another smaller group of 20 or so on our hunting lease. Just hope work allows me to go, at least on the weekends.

22nd. If you can't skip out on work, we'll hunt Saturday morning. Or Sunday.

Had the day off today. Went and listened to a favorite spot and heard 4 all in different spots.

Then went to a new spot after that and as soon as I got out of the truck there were 5 birds in the pasture. 1 in full strut. Tried to take pics but it was just getting daylight and cloudy.

Dad has watched a flock of 25 birds go across the field every night and morning...if they stay in that pattern with no trespassers, I'm not even going to call...

Alex and I found four gobbling on different roosts this morning. None of them gobbled after fly down. One we watched fly down after some hens and immediately started strutting. It didn't look like they wanted anything to do with him. But nonetheless he shut up when he hit the ground. All four of them were henned up. 4 days!

I almost made it happen, but picked the wrong bench. He caught me sleeping when he poked his head up for a split second. If he had seen my dekes, I might have lucked out...

I think later in the season is gonna be the best this yr . A lot of toms are henned up and aren't gobbling as much around here . Once they hit the ground most have been shutting up . I was seeing and hearing birds all over a week and a half ago . Now not so much .

Sneak in on the roost and call them down in your lap.
