Hilarious!
Actually, it was a pretty cool find. I was setting up my decoy at 5:45, and settled in for a very quiet, uneventful hunt. No birds by 8:45. So I said, F$ck this crap. I walked over to my decoy and the little bastard was a foot from it. I said, cha Ching! Lol.
I went mushrooming, and found 30 good yellows. Tallest being 7". It was a great day to be in the woods.

Stay at it, look for those trees that are so dead, almost white with no bark left on. At the base you will see layers of old bark laying at or around the base of the tree. Those are most generally American Elm. If and when you locate one. Stop and scan the area for more. Good luck!

He's right on about the trees. It doesnt get better then dead elms. Find the elms, then look for the mushies. Crouch down and really scan the area when u find the right spot. Dont go to fast or you'll cruise right by them

My issue is finding the elms, I've looked up what the leaves look like but found trees with very similar leaves,

The good elms will be barkless and they won't have any leaves. It's like was said earlier, they will be white looking and the really good ones won't have any bark at all. Here's a couple pics that might help ya.

They are in a lot of woods. Usually along the edges of the woods. They die from getting Dutch elms disease. Once ya see them you will see that they really are kinda unique being that not many other dead trees look like them.

We both put TOO much effort into finding them, Ron's given some to a few buddies that killed a certain deer before.

Yeah, Rics right! I have never sold any sheds or arrowheads that I have found. However, on three occasions, I gave a shed to a close friend that killed the deer that had carried that horn. One buddy, received a matched set from a 6.5 year old 7 point. I actually found his 3.5 yr old set, then 3 years later, I did a push for him during muzzy season, and was lucky enough to run that buck right to him. I new at first glance that I had his sheds, and it was only fitting to let him have them to adorn his man cave with his trophy on the wall.
It was hard to give them up, but good friends are more important and the smile on his face was"priceless"!

I was just wondering because I was in a pet shop and looking at how much cut up antlers cost for dog chew toys. One guy told me a big antler could bring as much as a 100 bucks for dog chews. Just wondering if anyone sold them for that reason thats all.
I don't know how any person could cut up a big shed, let alone a medium sized one! For dog chew toys sounds sacrilege TOO me! Hahaha

Yeah, I agree Bro. It sickens me, that damn squirrels chew on them.
Although, if I had a shed dog in training, I would say " chew away"! Lol.
A shed that I find, starts a relationship with that deer. I know that sounds corny, but I have been lucky enough to have found multiple sheds off of a particular deer. It is kinda cool to track his droppings in correlation to his late summer and fall core areas. Also, seeing his growth from year to year, compared to other bucks in his age class. Ric and I share this same passion with many of you. Just one of Gods creations that really has me hooked.
I had an awesome year, as many of you have. I am never done, but always have my head down. I just never know what's at your feet? Lol.
