Andy saw his buck locked down with a doe a couple of times over the last few weeks. No way to kill it. The deer came by alone tonight. That is what everyone hopes for... a lonely, monster buck!

I'm a firm believer the true giants tend to die in the second half of November. While there is nothing more exciting than the first couple of weeks of November, the second half is king for the truly rare ones. My buddy Andy helped to prove that point tonight. When I first saw the summer trail cam pics, I thought the thing would be close to 200 typical. I have no idea what the thing scores, I don't have that many fingers and didn't take time to do any math tonight...but it's a giant! G2- over 14", G3's - 12ish. Mass is unreal. Just a giant! It aint over fellas. Get yourself in a tree!

Sorry I didn't get any better pics, but here's what I snapped.[/QUOTE That is a stud of a deer Brock.I am right there with you .over the years some of the biggest bucks seem to go down.Thing is by then alot of guys are already giving up.I really enjoy the week of Thanksgiving as i have seen some huge bucks go down that week between my buddy's and i and other hunters.Just have to have patience and stick with it.

Patience is right! Andy missed this deer last year the third week of January, and there were four three others with it. It ain't over till it's over!

Thanks for the inspiration Brock. Congrats to your friend. That is a magnificent buck!

Swapped 4 camera cards today. I was surprised to see some new faces (although younger/smaller bucks) and I was surprised to see some does running solo. Seemed as if a doe came thru on camera solo, one of the smaller bucks would be 15-45min behind her coming thru. Sometimes a couple different ones moving thru. I am not talking 3wk old intel either. Some of this was as recently as yesterday. In my area, the rut behavior seems to be a trickle rut for certain. This is 2-3 weeks of rut behavior. I figured it would be mostly done by now. There may be some hope for me yet this weekend.

I killed my biggest buck to date on November 27, 2007 and I have been bowhunting for 36 years.. So it definitely ain't over yet.. But if I haven't killed one by the
first day of gun season it's definitely over for me.. At least on the farm in Washington Co. that I hunt..

I have had 3 great nights out. Chasing still going on. New young bucks showing up. I had a 3 year old locked on a doe last night. He presented many opportunities, but I am not ready to settle for an antler mount. Big quality bucks are just hard to come by this year in my part of Central Ohio. The cameras have proven that.

Went rabbit hunting this afternoon and when i pulled into my parking spot i see this BIG eight pointer walking the edge of the railroad tracks at 12:39. Buddy and his son are hunting the same area at 4:00 and the deer are running crazy. There were three differant bucks one alone and two chasing does. I thought the rut was on when i got mine on the third but now it seems like the rut is really on strong. This is in northern wood county.

My buddy shot a buck last night, came into calling, and saw the biggest buck of his life tonight standing in someones front yard. I had a big buck run out in front of me on my way back from work this afternoon, last 10 mins of daylight. He was in the middle of a desert, nary a woods around. In 2010 I shot a nice buck this weekend, chasing doe. In my opinion in a normal year, late November is comparable to the last week of turkey season. Big boys are vulnerable because their ho's have left them.

FS,

No pictures. He actually shot it very high above the spine. I was going to write that originally but decided not to. He saw it again tonight on the same property running a doe.

I saw 2 separate shooters today . Both while waterfowl scouting. One I bumped out of a woodlot while walking thru a field to check a spot that normally floods. So there I am glassing 200 geese and 50 mallards and put comes a doe with a 150ish 10 and a 120ish 8 . The big guy made sure to keep himself tween the doe and the other buck . That doe wasn't goin nowhere tho . She actually followed him . Later on I saw a 135" 8 pt with 3 mature does . They may have been bumped tho by a combine picking corn .

I put up a new camera last week to see whats hangin around since I haven't hunted (and my nephew and brother are in my double stand right now lol). I walked back yesterday to grab the card and found 2 fresh scrapes and a fresh rub, it seems like a crazy year around here

And I didn't have any pics cause some dumbass forgot to turn the cam on

Went out again this morning with my buddy... we saw nothing and heard nothing. My buddy hunted n some heavy thickets in the opposite far corner from where I was where he saw some rubs. I hunted down in a ravine that looked like good buck habitat. Nada! Neither of us even saw one while we were walking back to our trucks. Figured if anything one of us might bump a couple while walking but that did not even happen. Crazy year.

Things seem to have died off, just checked card that had 4hrs of video on it. Multiple does and bucks feeding, no anxiousness, actually the bucks were running the does off of the food. Got some great video of multiple shoving matches, also a buck snort wheezing at a doe.

I have a wild dog problem that needs attended to also.
