Rutin, Sarge and I had one of the coolest hunts I've been a part of today . We hunted the same area i did yesterday but setup alittle unorthodox. End result. A full 2 man limit of ducks and geese . Consisting of 3 wigeon a black and 8 green heads .

We still have a LONG way to go on geese, and we through a lot at Sarge today since ALL of his retrieves were walking across a frozen pond (ice skating) to pick birds up. Once he got the hang of the ice and trusted it he didn't look back. Still struggling with geese but I cant be too mad.... would you want a 20lb goose in your mouth while dancing on ice??? Either way today was one of the best days I've had afield. I always have fun hunting with Carpn but today was REALLY special!!!

Get ahold of Jake and lets put something together soon! My spots don't open until mid Dec. but after the amount of birds we saw today I'd be ashamed to take you to my places, LOL

I slept fine last night .

HA. :smiley_clap:

Maybe because I'm left to create my own "ethics" with duck/goose hunting since I'm doing this without any guidance, but water swatting and shooting hens is not something I'm worried about. Maybe I should be? I've heard echos on the internet that water swatting is like shooting deer in a corn pile?!? I figure if I land a duck, or it lands elsewhere and swims in, I'm there to shoot ducks and will gladly take the easy shot. Now I did flush my hooded merganser off the water just so when I looked at the mount, I knew it was a clean kill. Is that something that some guys really frown on?

I'm jealous of that ducks as usual fellas. We can't go until next weekend and I don't have any geese to hunt right now, so I'm not shooting up our blind for sky carp...

I water SWAT birds when ever I can. Like you said if I can talk them into giving up in the decoys I am doing it better than the next guy. Anyways when you kill one on the water the next will be in the air.

Glad to know I'm not along then! You're talking to a guy who water swatted a lone rutty hen when she came up 30 seconds after hundreds of other birds just left her hanging! lmao Ask Kaiser. She came up and was like "WTF?!?" and he said "Shoot!" So who am I to argue?!? lmao

Another good nite . Aaron Vinny, and I got 11 mallard and a stud black duck . Highlight of the night was when a snowy owl made a attempt to take a mallard which was laying15 yds away . What a beautiful bird !
