TOO Weight Loss - Biggest Loser Edition

Well thanks to a "well" timed flu, I was able to purge and fast for 2 days heading it to what I considered my start date. I was 240 on Saturday morning and I was 231 this morning. Most of that was fluids, but it will still jump start things. The good news it gives me a mental boost in knowing that as of this morning, I was on a clean slate with my diet. I've had one egg, slice of toast, water, some Gatorade as I'm still recovering from the flu, and a granola bar. That's the first thing I've had since 2PM Saturday, so I'm at least able to eat today! I found a burst of strength earlier so I cleaned out the pantry and fridge. Right now I'm trying to meal plan and I'm hoping I'll feel up to going to Krogers after my nap. It'll be a few days before I'll feel like getting any exercise, but at least I can start off eating right!

For you guys counting carbs, what are you using as your max daily intake for them?

For three weeks I try to stay at 20 carbs per day or less. After that I increase it by 5 or so every two weeks. Our stya in the hospital has surely killed my pace I was on. Sitting on my ass for three days sucked.

F that sub 20 grams nonsense! After one trip through the grocery store, it became very apparent how hard just staying between 50-100 will be. My main focus is to just eat healthier than I was and let the pieces fall where they may. Today was a Kroger Carbmaster yogurt (great suggestion here) with an apple. Lunch was a wrap with turkey, cheddar cheese, pickle, red onion, tomato, spinach and a honey mustard balsamic vinaigrette I found. A few minutes ago I had half a Panera ham and swiss sammich without the bread. I've had 2.5 quarts of water today also. Dinner will probably be chicken salads tonight. That's a drastic decrease in caloric and carb intake for me over my regular diet.

You really don't have to count carbs if you stay away from the major offenders, which are potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and carrots.

Pig out on all the meat, eggs, and cheese that you want and eat spinach and asparagus and those types of low carb greens.

Staying under 20 really isn't that tough. Remember it is net carbs so you take off dietary fiber and sugar alcohols.

Today...

Omelet with mushrooms, sausage, cheese, and sautéed onions. 2 carbs

Snack
Budding beef rolls - beef, cream cheese and pickles no carbs

Lunch
Bacon, avacado, triple cheese blend, and sautéed onions/peppers in a low carb tortilla as a quesadilla 8 carbs

Snack
Celery and peanut butter 4 carbs

Dinner

Smoked pork tenderloin, mashed garlic cauliflower and asparagus spears. 4 carbs

18 carbs for the day.

Eat what you want ( not fast food), just have portion control and work out. You will lose weight. and have a cheat day thats important in my book, just don't go over board

Breakfast. 2 eggs 2 bacon coffee with a wiff of milk and sugar

Snack. Low carb yogurt

Lunch. Tunasalad with hard boiled egg and pickles. Cottage cheese.

Snack. Pepperoni slices and cube colby jack cheese

Dinner.. Cube steak. Steamed brocolli and cheese and cottage cheese.

Late night snack. Sugar free Cherry jello and a squirt of whip cream.

Under 30 carbs for the day.

I'm struggling with not feeling full right now. I just had a wheat pita with grilled chicken and shredded cheese, yet it was like I barely ate anything. Dieting has always been a battle for me. Gotta find time to exercise so I can justify some real meals!

Try to increase fiber and/or protein in the meals. The fiber will absorb more water making you feel fuller and promote good movement on through....The protein slows down digestion which keeps the food in your stomach longer making you feel full longer.

I normally have one of the Emerald breakfast to go granola and nut breakfasts for my breakfast. Since I have been working out its not holding me over as often. I have added a Luna bar or a Luna protein bar to the breakfast which is only an additional 200 calories but 8-12 more grams of protein. In the evening if I am wanting a snack I make myself some muscle milk which is 300 calories but 32 grams of protein. I am trying to keep that to 1-2 times per week b/c I don't want to put on weight, just help my body when its hungry.

I wish I had seen this post earlier so I could have entered. I was at 260 and down to 231 this morning. I made up my mind I'm going to loose some more weight and head towards 200.

Being retired I stay up late and get up late if nothing is planned in the morning. So I eat a light lunch at noon. And then a light supper in the evening. It's working. I do have one teaspoon of honey with my 1st cup of coffee and then no sweetener after that. the honey controls my sinus problems and has done so for 7-8 yrs. now.

I feel ya. This is the slowest my weight has ever come off and I am hungry all the time.

I had a Kroger yogurt and an apple so far today, washed down with 1/2 gallon of water. I also started my vitamin/supplement regime today. Fish Oil, Glucosamine/Chondrotin, GNC Energy & Metabolism Multi-Vitamin, B12, and Ginseng. I'm looking to modify and/or add some things to this list. I bought some MCT Oil to incorporate, but it has been tough to find a way I can live with. Open to suggestions on the supplement front for sure. I'm concerned with overall well being, but specifically on having lots of energy and healthy joints.

It's 80% diet guys. You can train every day for a year but if you eat crap you aren't gonna see your body change much. Good luck and stick with it!!

I'm following this one too. Since I was 18 (32 now) I've always weighed between 175-185 until this past year. I jumped on the scale the other day and I'm up to 210. I guess my metabolism is changing since I haven't ever tried to watch what I eat and I've never been a fan of exercising. The weight doesn't bother me but I feel like crap all the time and I'm always tired, I think it's diet related. So.. I guess I'll have to start watching what I eat and doing some kind of exercise too. Dammit.

I agree completely and would say its more than 80%. Jessica and I went through the house last weekend and got rid of almost everything. Anything that's overly processed, chemical and preservative laden, full of fillers etc. right down to cans of Campbell's soup. (Gluten). We decided to eat fresher foods. Meets, vegetables, etc. In the last 6 days she lost 4.8 pounds to her goal of 20 and I lost 2.4 lbs towards to my goal of 15. We haven't "dieted" exercised, cut carbs, fat, counted weight watchers points. Nothing really but eat less processed foods.

Dinners have been

Beef tips cooked on a skillet with onions, mushrooms, garlic and some olive oil. Garlic mashed potatoes and corn.

Butterfly pan fried pork chops with sautéed mushrooms, home canned green beans, and corn.

Gordon's fried fish, (low gluten) French fries in the oven, steamed cauliflower with melted cheese, and peas

Lunches are composed of cut up celery, carrots, green peppers with ranch, an apple, banna, yogurt, ham and cheese sandwich. Mixed nuts. Etc. One day was a salad with regular ranch. Plus the carrots, celery, and green peppers.

We haven't starved, dieted, etc. Been quite full actually. we just quit eating all this processed chemical laden shit added stuff we called food.
