I'm still not 100% this morning. About 95% there but you won't catch me doing cartwheels.

We had a great time as usual. Mason and I went to bed fairly early Saturday night. He commented that he heard Ron laugh a say "HAHAH, I love it", a dozen times. He thought that was the funniest thing of the weekend... however, I was in the tent with him at the time, and I KNOW that isn't all he heard emitted from the fire ring. I think he may have learned a thing or two about turtles and midgets! :) These are important things for a boy to learn, and there is no better way to learn it than at "deer camp".

I enjoyed the company and conversation of each in attendance and look forward to doing it again next year.

No doubt that valuable life experiences are learned at Deer Camp. Klay still values his lesson in modern rap from Nayden when he did Regulate and he still values the lesson of Fluteman and his rendition of "She Raped Me" sung in the tone of "She F'ing Hates Me". As with Mason, this was all learned as he layed in the tent taking it all in.

Oh, and both boys still recall the Billy Currington story from Joe and laugh everytime one of his songs comes on the radio.

I had a much needed fun weekend with all you TOOzers that came to camp. The weekend almost didn't happen and for that I have to thank Jesse for his help and kindness. Had a great time with Taylor and his dad when Taylor took me to his place Saturday to hunt for the evening. Had a great encounter with some deer and almost forgot what one looked like so it was nice to see and take a shot at one lol. Damn smoke I couldn't tell if I hit it or not lol. Taylor shaved one on the same hunt. Sucked neither dropped and I believe one of the local residents had a hand in helping those deer survive.

It was great to see all of you regulars and a joy to see some new faces this year. It's one thing to sit here and type and converse back and forth but to actually sit around and BS in person brings posts to life. You can hear the voice that goes with the typed words and you can hear the tone that goes with it lol. Makes a huge difference when that happens and you read a post lol. Turns that post from " What a dick" or " that was rude" to " what a smartass" lmao Point is, it makes a huge difference after you share a few stories around a fire. If you haven't been to one of these outings you need to make one and you will see what I am talking about. Some of the most giving, caring, and knowledgeable group of people I have ever known.

I can't Thank you all enough for a much needed weekend.

Almost forgot. Joe, did you get that paperwork done for the "Help the turtles" yet? FUG lol.

One other thing I gotta mention here. Mason has had a pretty good string of luck shooting deer in Athens. I've explained to him the obvious, it isn't always so easy. If you are actually hunting, even in Athens, there is some challenge to it. We got down there late on Friday and didn't even have a clue where we would hunt. I put him and Lathe in a high spot and scouted a series of ravines below them hoping to bump a deer their way. Later in the morning, Lathe and I found a good looking area, finally, with a good bench below that we thought would provide some opportunity. We were actually HUNTING, and it worked out well as Mason did get a crack at a big doe Saturday evening. He stopped her in a shooting lane and cut loose, but apparently peaked and pitched an air ball. Thankfully, btw, as both deer were down in a gawd-awful hole! He doesn't miss often, but I'm sure glad he did when viewed in hindsight!:) The best thing I heard from him in summary of the weekend was "It's more fun to hunt than to shoot 'em off a pile of corn". Not saying I'm opposed to it, I'm just thrilled to see him getting to the point of wanting to actually learn this woodsmanship thing vs. just pointing the gun in the direction I tell him to. Plus, the kid really enjoys the company of you all... makes for a really good weekend away. I suppose he'll never forget his first taste of Xbow's Sunny D... :)

I'm glad he enjoys camp Brock. He's a good kid and seems to have fun with all of us old guys and isn't afraid to jump in on a conversation or bust your chops lol.

Give Joe a couple mason jars and a couple hours and he will teach a person many things about life lmao.
