Yep.. Billy currington in a tiny hole in the wall beach bar on Tybee Island GA. A story best saved for Beers and a fire. Lets just say we're not pen pals.
I also met James Brown in another hole in the wall pool hall in Augusta Ga in 1999. This one however was a riot. He was there not for the hype but just because it was a small hole in the wall where he coould go just like anyone else. I happened to just stumble upon it while on a weekend pass in the Army.
Turk hunted with Eddie Salter when i was like 13.. Back in MS. He was doing a seminar and pimping his calls at a small Archery shop called Rebel Archery in Vicksburg Ms. One of the door prizes was a turk hunt with Eddie. Nobody bothered to tell us it meant we had to take Eddie hunting the next morning on our property. lmao.. That boy had ears like a yote.. In the pre dawn darkness eddie heard a bird shock gobble on the roost that my young ears couldn't even think i heard. We went up and down 2 hollows in the dark, Snuck over the rim of one and sat down.. As daylight approached. The damn bird was roosted above our heads in a tree about 20 yards away... "oops" with a slight chuckle Eddie said..
I met Mayor Coleman once crossing the street in Columbus.. He had 3 other brothas with him that were either pimps or black Southern Baptist preachers. This was right after he succesfully lobbied for a .5% increase in Columbus city income tax.. The word "prick" slipped out my mouth as we passed.. Coleman had a WTF look.. The other brothas just laughed hysterically..
I met Bill dance on Eagle lake in MS.. We were crappie fishing, he was out by himself Bass fishing.. It wasn't hard to spot him as he was flying up the lake in his Tennessee hat.. He motored up slow and we chatted for a couple minutes. He told us where he marked a butt load of slab crappie..
Met John Grisham in Ms. I played little league baseball with his son. At the time though i think he was still a Senator in the Mississippi state legislature and working on his first book.
