I got in the blind a little later than I'd have liked due to having to drop Mason off for basketball practice tonight. I was only in the blind 20 minutes or so before seeing 4 antlerless and two small bucks trot across the wheat field in front of me. They were 100 yards away, running from my right to left. They appeared like something had spooked them out of the thicket, but weren't running full speed. A short time later I heard the wonderful sound of a dog running deer 600 yards west of me. He wasn't very good at it as he didn't stick with one trail, he apparently liked to jump deer and chase it a short while before finding another to chase for a spell. He wound up running deer all around me, even ran one right behind my blind. It was typical.

I think I may resist the temptation to hunt again until we get back into frigid temps...if we do. I heard chainsaws, four wheelers, dogs, people yelling ... the sort of thing you run into when the weather warms up to tolerable temps. I prefer hunting when we are the only people out and about. We may go Saturday evening just because I've got people scheduled here at work so we can get out for a bit, and with Mason's schedule getting real busy for a while, he isn't going to be able to get out much from now till the end of season.

The one with the droptine doesnt share well. The one behind him is the one thats been missing. This vid doesnt show it well, but he is a giant too!

People here ask me why do I go all the way to Ohio to hunt deer when we have deer in NH. Now there are some nice bucks taken in this state but nothing close to those 2 in that video. Good luck putting one of those slobs on the ground.

Two studs left for the two studs patiently holding their tags. Hope you both get to use them in the next week or so. Clock is ticking now. Got to feel good just knowing they are alive. If they survived the cold spells and all the hunters up until now, that is a huge plus. Or a minus considering they know how to survive. Makes it tough. All how you look at it I suppose.

WOW.......Just amazing!!! My respect for these two just went up a whole other level!!! It's totally unreal how these two have gotten by like they have up till now!!!

Reminds me of the line in Jeremiah Johnson when ole Griz said to JJ,(in so many words...) ....."you fared well my friend, living this long with a full head of hair with so many after it!"

Whoever is blessed with the opportunity to put either one of these two giants down has really done something special!!! Sure hope it's one of you two or both or they're at least taken legally! Monarchs!!!

Good luck guys!

Its funny that "Beans" is acting shy. Complete opposite of how he was all year. Role reversal with those two it seems. Glad to see him again! We are staying out until conditions improve over the next few days. Ive got a plan for some morning sits though just cause i cant take it anymore! I wont be setting up close to Masons blind.
