My IP address

I was told on another forum that "Your IP Address is associated with spam accounts "

As far as I know I have never been hacked and for the most part at least lol
I try to keep out of trouble and not post smack on anyone

So I am pretty sure I am not the spammer :smiley_confused_vra

Do I understand it correctly
Your IP address changes over time ?

And if so , how do I get mine to change again , away from one associated with spam ?

Your posting from an AOL account. AOL Handles Accounts differently than most service providers like time werner for example.. The IP You actually have is what's called a NAT, and the IP that is shown to the world is an AOL Proxy server... Meaning many AOL users display the Same Ip to the world... Think of it as a Toll booth outside town.. Cars of may license plate numbers are in town... When someone wants to leave town (AOLs network) they first go through the toll booth (AOLs Proxy) and all the cars are given the same plate number (same IP)... This is done so people outside AOL town can't target you by running your plate number and finding your real address.... As they have no clue what your real plate number is... When you come back to town (AOLs Network) and go back through the toll booth (AOLs proxy) the car is given back it's original plate numbers... Spammers love AOL ip addresses as they know that if a person blocks the plate number they will block ALL traffic from that town, in this case AOL town... Not a smart thing to do back when AOL was THE internet. It would be like blocking most of the US from getting to your site.. However now there are better ways to do it..

The Owners of the other forum has blocked that AOL proxy. It's not you alone. He has potentially blocked thousands of people.. Tell him he's a bonehead for blocking an AOL proxy and to take it off the list and look up the better way. :)
