Anyone else noticing that birds are not in fields where they traditionally have been year in and year out?

Up here in in NE OH, that has been my observations as well as what others I have spoken to and shot the breeze in passing have witnessed.

I've noticed that as well when I go down the road to our land and pass a 10 acre hay field that I always saw turkeys in. Haven't seen one bird in that field this year.

Had a great evening with my boy, we set a blind up and saw 2 hens feeding in the field we was setting it near so I let him view them thru the binos while I mouth yelped to them. That got their attention and even got a gobble out of an ole tom deep in the woods. We plan on being back in there Tuesday morning before school. This is the first time he even seems somewhat interested in hunting which is a big plus for me.

That's awesome, he might be hooked after he shoots a big ole tom in the face!

I think he will be as well! Turkey hunting is so much fun. It is in your face action at times and hearing toms gobble is very cool to hear and also seeing them strut is awesome! That's great that he is showing an interest though! Best of luck to the both of you.

well, first morning I didnt go out before class and what do I see, 2 nice long beards, a jake, and 4 hens in my food plot.. I think they are doing it on purpose now. I did read though that a light rain/mist in cool weather for turkey hunting is about as good as hunting the rut for deer season. I don't know what you guys think about that but I am a believer now, its a light mist and 45 here. I'll be back out tomorrow for redemption on old Wiley Tommy boy.
