How about that hot pepper jelly recipe too while yer at it!! LOL!!

We ran out from the ones she made last year, so she found some in the hippie section of Krogers and we like it better. We/she is going to try doing a smoked one this year. I'll be sure to share once we get a good one figured out.

How far away from each other should cucumbers and butternut squash be?

Last year, both of those took over my garden and attached to everything, so I am going to put them in a different part of the yard.

How close can the rows be between the two different plants?

Got my tomato plants in, in addition to the usual types, I'm trying some called Lemon Boy tomatoes. Got all my peppers in besides banana, the greenhouse didn't have any. They said it would be a week. All my beans, onions and peas have popped and look good. The corn is taking a little longer, few sprouts here and there.

Does anyone get a ground temp before planting? I know that ground temp plays a major roll in plants. I'm not sure how to go about getting a reading though, meat thermostat?

I don't do ground temps because I usually use black plastic to cover. That increases the temps for me. Diane I would train th to grow a certain way by giving them something to climb on. That may help.

Thanks, Milo

You can make a cheap trellis out of 2x4s and some fence which is what I use. When they sprout I use some twine to pull th to climb in the trellis. I also like it because they don't sit in the ground either. I can get a picture of mine if you need it.

I'd love to see a picture. Butternut squash can get pretty big and heavy. Would something like that work for those also?
