Finished paperwork at 2am. Lay on the couch as Brutus hasn't been doing very well. Graci, our 13yr old daughter, has been sleeping with him on the living room floor the last few nights. I wasn't asleep quite yet when Brutus sat up awkwardly and I knew something wasn't right. Without going into details, I still haven't been to sleep. Kids were up by 4-430am and we all spent his last hours with him. Frustrating we couldn't reach the vet, but they need to sleep as well. Emergency clinic was across town and outrageously priced. I was ready to put him down myself when my phone rang. Our vet made a house call and put him down in his own back yard around 6am this morning. It hasn't been a fun day. We laughed, reminisced, cried, and finally laid him to rest by our other dogs. Considering he was a rescue, 75lb most of his life, and lived to 12 or 13 years old. . . .Not a surprise the stubborn old bastard hung in there like a heavyweight prize fighter. RIP Brutus.

This is what this thread is for. Old dogs. Good stories. Memorializing our pets. Pictures of our current dogs. Please don't let my downer morning ruin the thread. Feel free to share some more pics and stories.

So sorry for your loss Phil. When I had to put my Lab, Roto down I sat for several days in a lawn chair by his grave ballin my eyes out.

"The greatest burden on a man is that he must out live a good dog time and time again..."

Sorry to hear Phil. Losing a good dog is a tough thing. There's a reason they are called our best friends...

I really hope my Tanner boy gives me that many years. Dogs are only here for a short part of our lives, but they give us their entire lives... RIP Brutus

Jaden von Thrasher mwm Zwinger.....just "Jaden" as my daughter named him.
I preordered last summer and he was born in Alabama in November 2014.
He's 10 months old now and ready for his first tracking season.
Jaden is male Dachshund of European decent. He and his litter mates were specifically breed to track.
Jaden has quite the nose and amazes strangers whom I allow to work with him on "blind" tracking practice runs.

Jaden will be a Deer Camp fixture for years to come.

I shared these with my wife. Very nice of you guys. Much appreciated.

BTW- Erin said you have a cute little weiner, Ben. And she wants one like it. Guess she is tired of my big dogs. Lol On a serious note, Jaden is a good looking dog.

My wife used to say the same thing more so back when we were dating. :pickle: Not so much 15 years later. She says she's tired of it.

Guess I need to trade her 37 year old butt in for two 18.5 year olds. rotflmao
