Solid sit. 10 minutes after i settled in i saw a nice, heavy, wide, asking for an arrow, buck deer. He was working a field edge but was rather relaxed.

Time to set up on that edge. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to why the fugg the big boys prefer this edge. You'd never think it. Ive watched to much through the binocs last year and this morn.

Around 9am i did have a family group of does do as planned and all 5 came within 10 yards of my stand.

Also had two white faced owls cruise about 15 feet from my head. Beautiful.

Time to bust out some lawns/fall clean up so im wide open for the next cold front. So happens one of the lawns is a property i have permission to hunt on. Might save that one for last and head out for a short evening hunt

Saw eight tonight with one being a target buck, unfortunately so did the owners blue healer.... Back into the cornfield he went....

5 doe were making their way towards me when a tanker truck pulled in and spooked them off and I made my way around towards my truck and 2 doe were feeding down where I originally was going too set up...

Oh well, another day in the life of a deer hunter....

Had a doe come in at last light. Slung one at her, must've glanced the branch I didn't see right in front of her. Off she went, didn't find the arrow. Like J said, just another frustrating day in the life...

Sure the arrow wasn't in her still? Look for any blood on her exit path?

Or I hit her and the expandable didn't expand in which case I guess that would be possible. I would still think there would have been some blood at least. I did have one not expand in the target once, which now has me thinking. Great, here we go with the what ifs. I'm this close to jumping off the expandable bandwagon

"Target Buck"....... Nuff said. Thats A great sign. You are onto them and You know how to Stay after it Jay. No doubt in my mind your going to get a crack at a dandy and send one through his pump station.

Those uncontrollable variables are frustrating(dogs or what not), but can work just as much for you as they can against you.

We all have witnessed this but im going to ramble anyway. Ha

Years back during late season when the deer where yarded up, i had a 'hiker' come through. It was the 4th or 5th time i had seen this guy that season. He wasnt trespassing, just one of those unexpected/annoying variables on the property next door that fugged up a couple hunts.

Freezing my ass off, i was a bit frusturated. Hung my bow up, shaking my head. Next thing i know, here comes the entire herd following this beautiful ten point i had my eye on, all because the hiker' had skirted them my way.

That deer lived due to a frozen and noisy ladder stand, but damn near almost died due to that 'hiker'. Ha.

I've been doing this a long time and have had it work like that as well.... I shake my head but know deep down it could of ran it my way as well.... The tanker truck moved me in a direction that I'd never have taken this evening turning me onto a rub line 30 yards behind me I never would of seen had it not pulled in and busted those doe out of there....

Thinks workout in different ways....
