My father had a beauty 8 or come in from behind and was spotted in the tree while reading through TOO posts.

He ended up shooting a much smaller eight.

He refuses to answer my texts while on stand now.

Read an article the other day where they were talking about how many guys get caught off guard and miss opportunities at deer because they are on their phones.

That's why I got rid of that hand muff, I had one just like joes. I couldn't stand having my hands in that thing, I just felt like it would screw me if I had a nice buck come through and only had seconds to stop him.

Just settled in for the evening. Ended up seeing a small buck at the end daylight yesterday. At a different property tonight, one with feeder setup.

Not having seen one buck this year that I wanted to shoot, I now plan on eating that tag. I'm good with this, just wasn't my year....

I'll be doing more preseason work for 2016-2017 to hopefully tag one next season.

Good luck too everyone heading out... Still hacking up a lung so no cold weather for me for a few more days at least.... Single digits coming in the next few evenings and restocked straw and cedar chips for the girls.... Was only out an hour and couldn't stop coughing.... Friggin bronchitis....

I'm glad I didn't go out. I've had one small tree fall across the driveway and a bigger tree fall just outside of the yard. Looks like I'll be running a chainsaw when it calms down.

If you're texting in the stand you still need to have your senses about you. I keep my ears open and head on a swivel. It also helps that my bow is rarely on the hook.
