We have two GSP, and two beagles. I like them all.

I think they are 7 now J. I'll have to check for sure. Heck, they may be 8. I've been fortunate to own a couple of exceptional dogs, was given one that had more trophies than I had room for, and these two were about as good as any a few years back. I gave 75 bucks a piece for them from a local fella. They just have/had it. Nothing better than a nice little beagle.

But you are gay enough to watch it intently enough to pick your own winner?

I know responding and trying to defend myself is going to make me look more gay. . . .

I was trying to fall asleep. I like dogs. Best of Class had been chosen already. I saw the GSP had a chance to win best of show. I watched hoping he would win. He won. I shared. Now I am a flamer. lmao

Add jewelry recovery to laceys growing resume. I spent all morning looking for my wife's necklace. I had retraced her steps to the Seattle commuter station. After spending sometime looking on the pavement unsuccessfully.I drove home and got my cur dog and an article of Jessie's clothing. Lacey is a blood tracking dog among other things. I have also been messing around with human scent tracking in the off season. I figured there might be enough skin cells in the chain of the neck lace for her to maybe hit on while we trailed Jessie's scent track. We started the track at my jessies jeep. Apparently Jessie took a short cut through the grass which is were the necklace chain broke. Lacey did a prefect article find while tracking and layer down. A down is her signal to me that she found an article containing the scent of the target while trailing a scent track.( Example a clothing, large pool of blood, chucks of organ or a NECKLACE.) After finding the necklace lacey continued to track to the station platform. She desperately wanted to find the target of the track but that was not possible due to Jessie boarding the train. Cur dogs are the only type of dog I know that can track, hunt, gaurd your home and herd all in the same week.

That is beyond impressive Tom. That is better work than many police dogs can perform. I was watching "The First 48" and they were using blood dogs. The dogs followed the scent to a low lying creek area downwind of the crime scene. I chuckled and thought "Hmmm. . . .Same thing Hank does sometimes when tracking a deer." Those dogs were winding the scent but not actually following it nose to ground. This is one of the things that frustrates me with Hank. I am very impressed at what your Lacey girl has been doing for you. That is an unbelievable dog!

Sometimes air scenting isn't a bad thing. I'll let lacey do it if I know she is air scenting to take short cuts on a winding hot track. I am very happy with her.

that really is very impressive, Tom.

these Cur dogs are something else. air scenting is not something they can all just do, and you can't teach them to do it, at least not a Mt. Cur. a rare and much desirable trait in squirrel dogs. Lefty winds squirrels that have not been on the ground, occasionally finds the exact tree if I let him work on it long enough, but not every time. this is a priceless skill on the tough days when squirrels are laid up in tree tops.

Joe's recent pic of his basset on FB made me think of this thread. Here are our two hounds tonight. 70-75# GSP and 40lb beagle.

See the base of the lamp next to the dogs? Those two boneheads knocked that sucker over last night and busted the glass on top. I woke up it hit so hard on the floor. And I never wake up! My daughter and wife were nice enough to clean it up since I was getting up in 4hrs to work. Not sure how the dogs managed to knock it over. Freaking doofballs.

I asked Hank about it in the shop this morning. I accepted his apology. He sincerely looked sorry.
