Anyone getting out this weekend? I'm gonna try sat evening...hard telling though. It'll be my first real day off in a couple of weeks and my inlaws will be in town from AK. Even if I just sneak out into the back yard, I need to get out!

Well...that changed already. I gotta work Saturday now! Hopefully with all this rain they end up closing due to no trucks coming in. I doubt it though....[emoji53] Oh well, the sooner we get this harvest behind us, the sooner I'll actually have time to hunt.

Congrats Francis! I think Jeff's buck was crossed with a Clydesdale!!

Thanks! Yea, wasn't much fun dragging that thing!

Won't be able to make it out this weekend myself. Have to go out of town for a wedding, hoping to get back after it next weekend. Hoping to have my doe in Athens down before halloween weekend, and just wait hope to get lucky with horns.

Well I did deer related stuff this weekend. I put our two wireless cams up. Also hung my "rut" stand. The cams have solar chargers hooked up to them so it makes it nice. Wont have to go back until game time.

Today I pulled the bow off the hook for the first time and shot 10 arrows.. felt awesome. Last two at 40:

I had my first sit...if you follow the other thread, you seen what happened. Really holding my head low today. I know that doe is dead...just can't find her in that tall grass.

Looking at the temperature drop this weekend in Athens, if all goes well going to be down this weekend trying to take my down for there, and just kill time watching small bucks rest of the year.

Well, it was a pretty good Saturday, Sunday morning didn't see anything. Caught the red eye to Athens, Saturday morning, had my buddy sit in my plot stand thinking he would get a shot on a doe. He text me about 830, that he shot a doe. Had about 6 come in, even being a doe it was nice to see that they came in, hit my watering hole, ate at the stump for a minute then worked their way to the plot. The evening hunt, I was about 2 yards away twice from getting a shot on another doe. The second time they were working right to an opening I had, was getting ready to try and something fell out of the tree by them. They spooked a little and ran back about 10 yards and then never had another chance. It's only seasonal right now, but I'm taking the gamble and got hired in as a UPS driver, hoping to turn it into a full time position at some point after the season. I'll still be out most weekends when I can, just won't be able to take my normal week off in November. Hoping to make it back down in two weeks, If I don't get a shot on a doe then, I might not shoot one the rest of the year. After that in the rut, I'll just be waiting and it's just a personal preference, but I don't like to shoot does after. They could change though.

and yes I have a purple bow lol this is just a little gas line spot, through some rye grass and chicory down a few weeks to see what would happen. It is so dry down there, couldn't work anything. Even though theres not much they still mill around and munch at it
