I seen a number of deer tonight in my way home, all in Highland county. Both bucks and does. Bucks didn't seem to be bothering them, all deer seen were just grazing. Except one buck laying in my yard. I didn't see anything to get excited about as far as rut.

I am gonna set an alarm though, seen a good buck in my driveway! Literally eating the grass that grows down the middle. I'd like to give him a closer look.

I took a nice country cruise around dusk to see what was happening in my immediate area. Saw 20 some. 2 decent ones that where in the same area. The bigger of the two seemed to have a little swagger to him, but not going awol just yet. The fact that those two where on their feet by dusk is encouraging. Time for me to start ramping things up. Been to busy getting things ready for my pops this weekend!

On the way home from work I saw a couple 120ish bucks, one was wondering through someone's yard lol. Don't normally see bucks there any other time of year.

Yeah Id say that's a pretty nice buck.

Gordo, if you stay away from the Skull, you might be able to get more done brother.

Giles, good luck man, I hope you are able to have an up close conversation with him.

It's late October. Scrapes and rubs will become more common. Buck deerz will be seen more often.
Cruising, seeking, chasing could be happening near your stand or a mile away but it IS happening
near you and will only get more intense. Just because you did not see it yesterday or tomorrow does
not mean much. Not every doe is ready at the same time and there is no way to predict exactly when
one will begin to set off buck activity. Get out as often as possible starting NOW.
Best bet at this point is to be hunting whenever you can from now till gun season.

Same as every year......

Central Ohio, rattled in a spike last week. I haven't seen too much increased daytime activity on the cams. However the batteries died and I haven't been able to gather any Intel for about four days. I'm going to change them out tonight before my evening hunt. I did make a couple of mock scrapes last week that haven't really been touched other than a button buck I watch try to work it. I'm also going to freshen those up today. I agree, it should get a good here real soon and plan on hunting every chance I get between now and gun

I have been glassing the food plot and been field behind the house and have seen some doe pushing from young bucks. The trail cameras are showing what seems like a new buck or two each week, so that's promising. I'll be hunting behind the house tonight and head down to Ryan's this weekend.

I didn't go out. I've been telling everyone else to stay out of my woods until after youth. I couldn't bring myself to go back and take something away from my kids...that area is for them and I only had about 1.5 hours to hunt.

Seeing more and more scrapes and rubs pop up. Found a new scrape today around mid day while dropping and checking cams, it was under a beach tree ground tore up about 3ft in diameter and the licking branch ripped to shreds.

Saturday night I was set up on food and one of my cams a couple hundred yards away in a transition area caught a video of one of my target bucks following behind two mature does.

Monday night I had a mature doe come by followed by a 120-130" and he was steadily doing some soft tending grunts

What Reo said. I'll add: I checked 3 camera cards today. Little guys with their first racks are showing up all over. 2-3yr old bucks are moving past cameras more but only at night. Had one potential mature buck show up. He hasn't shown all year but isn't new to the area. Also at night. All tell tale signs it is getting closer to the good stuff. I don't doubt some does are being tended to. Many are being harassed by young bucks. Give it a week or two and things should explode. Maybe sooner.

One thing that I have noticed over the years on these types of threads.... Guys who have vacation saved for the second week of November or later will say nothing is happening yet and its a ways off because they want to believe that it is going to be prime for them. Then on the other end of the spectrum, guys who take the first week will describe all the October activity and how it is leading up to be a little early and they have timed it right in the first week. People don't want to believe they picked the wrong time one way or the other.

Couldn't be more accurate. I arrive the 10th of November and leave the 20th ;) Last year I was there the 4th-15th. I like to be in a tree the 10th to the 13th. I have killed a lot of bucks on those days. I think I picked good dates, however we all know a buck can be killed on any day. The rut could be kicking off but with the warm front coming any activity will be at night and/or within the first/last hour of the day.

I was just thinking this and then I scrolled and saw your post, hit the nail on the head.
