We have more deer using our farm than in the past 5-6 years and it was still one of the slowest openers I've been apart of other than the rainy ones.

I hunt an area where deer will migrate. They have moved from this property. I saw two all day. I've never heard so little shooting, and I don't think I've seen so few participants. Opening day of gun season is nothing like it once was and I suspect having the entire weekend to hunt at the end of the season makes the beginning of the season a lot less appealing.

Saw our normal 4 does, changed stands then cell cam send us this pic 4 minutes before shooting light ends. Not sure my 10 year old could have seen him, because it is in a bottom and with clouds it gets dark early.

Also this is one big mama, she will get it if she shows up during the day.

Times are an hour off stupid camera keeps changing back.

I went out for the last 30 mins. Didn't go far. Heard some volleys on adjacent properties and heard deer running. Snuck my ass outta there. Could be a good sit coming if they are stacking into the thick stuff

Was a slow one today where I was hunting the morning, but going by the # of shots within a mile or so they were moving.... Just not around me....

One of the strangest in a while. Less than what I'm used to on public land for sure. Shooting did pick up quite a bit during the last hour but still not normal even with the usual number of trucks parked about. Can't argue with the numbers, though. Less deer is deer no matter how you slice it. They got what they wanted I guess

Took a couple of the Amish guys from work out. Yup I'm an Amish hauler now lol. My foreman shot a small buck, nothing else was harmed. Lots of hunters and shooting going on

I saw 14-18 does today, may have seen some of the same ones more than once. Also 3 bucks, 2 spikes (one had 8-9" spikes)and one 130 ish 8 point. I took quite a few pictures. It was pretty steady all day. The best buck was at 11:15. Longest period without a deer was around 45 mins or so. Almost no shots today, nothing close, and all deer just doing their normal thing. No rain in Athens, south wind all day, very little sunshine
