We are within a week of wrapping up Jr High ball. I've coached the team again this year. It will be my last season of coaching, at least as a head coach. I am looking forward to being done. Mason has been hitting well, pitching and fielding well too. As soon as we wrap this up he will be starting with two other teams, a pony league team and a 17u team. I think the 17 u team will do him a world of good. Playing with 17 year olds when you are 13 has to be good, right? :). He will no longer dominate when pitching, and I think it will make him work harder.

I played on a similar travel team when I was 13-14. I'd say it did make me a better player, but I could see how it could also frustrate a kid. 17 to 13 is a big gap from a strength, speed, and maturity standpoint.

My former high school team has been struggling this year. We left them with only 3 returners. Hopefully they can follow up our D1 State Title with a strong run in the play offs.

We have 13 nine years olds this year. We've been practicing indoors since Feb and are finally getting some outdoor time in. We play 18 games this season in the Alliance League (Hot Stove) plus tournament time. We'll be decent as we have 6 stellar players, 3 so-so, and 4 automatic strike outs. It's always fun teaching and mentoring turning young boys into mini-men. I actually enjoy working with the lower unit for improvement points the best. The team is only as good as it's weakest link.

Both kids are still playing travel ball. Drew is playing 7th grade school ball now. Damn where does time go??? Both pitch so we keep pretty busy always trying to get pitching in. Addy was supposed to play in a tournament in indiana this weekend but it was canceled earlier due to rain, not too disappointed though because it's turk time!

Kody is in his sophomore season and playing for me on the varsity. He's a DH and our backup catcher to a senior. Right now he's hitting .311 after being around the .500 mark the first two weeks of the season. He's till hitting the ball, but not finding the holes like he was. I'm pretty pleased with his performance thus far though and he's proven he belongs in the lineup.

Klay is in his freshman season and on the Jv. They bat him lead off and he plays CF. He's over .500 and flirting with being called up as one of our veteran outfielders are slumping bad.

It's awesome finally having them with me. I took this job before they were born and to have them with me now is a cool experience.

That's awesome!!! I really miss watching high school and legion ball. Now there are also local travel teams and junior high ball...that would have been cool.

Here's one pics of Kody in varsity action.

Here's one my wife took of Klay in a jv game.

And here's one of Klay pitching to Kody in a scrimmage in March.
