Turned a nice Osage "bee hive" striker today for my buddy Ron.

Decided to try something different tonight. I found five purple heart 3/4" x 6" blanks on eBay for cheap a while back. Since they are too small to make a one piece out of I came up with this idea. I turned the Osage barrel first, then drilled a 1/4" diameter hole in it on the press. Then I put the purple heart on the lathe. I turned the end down (using my calipers) to fit the hole in the Osage and made it 1/4" long. I finished turning the peg, and sanded it. Took it off the lathe for a test fit, it was nice and snug. Pulled it apart and applied wood glue. This thing runs like a champ😎. Kind of an odd color combo but I like it, fuggers got some weight to it also. I'm thinking this one will go in my striker arsenal😀
