We were able to use a chain saw and cut a path (a butt clenching path) down to the deer. Harry was the first to put his hands on the antlers. Biggest deer he’s ever taken. We got it tagged and later on we will take it to the butcher. I told Harry that I had three words for him....”congratulations kitchen bitch!”

Perplexed. I videod the shot. Everyone that watched it asked why we couldn't find it. Steady blood trail 70yds where it bedded. Not pin drops. Steady golf ball sized drops. 45-60min after my hunters deer bedded another veteran shot a small buck that headed same direction. We think he bumped our button buck out of it's bed. We are thinking single lung/liver. For a button buck. . . Should have died sooner. They are sissies. Frustrated for my guy. It's a bummer.

Day 1 down here in Morgan County. Did some scouting yesterday afternoon and set up this morning in a nice bowl adjacent to a bedding area. Saw a doe at 8:00 am that vanished into the brush. Then at 10:45 a really good 10-pt chased a doe right by me. Had him at 22 yards and was at full draw with my recurve, but he just wouldn't give me a clear lane to shoot through. So damn close! He was a solid 135-140. Good start to the trip so far. I'm really surprised how full the trees still are with leaves down here. The understory is still choked out and you can't see much of anything past 60-70 yards.

That deer is dead for sure. I'm sure it's just a bit away. Keep at it brother!
