So I went back up to The Oak. I thought about the pop up since I knew deer would come out there, but it wouldn't be safe using a rifle there. After 2 hrs, deer started to filter out of the thicket where I knew they would & instead of coming my way after feeding, they went to my place & fed some more. Another doe did come out afterwards, and she came up to me & browsed. I sat there & watched her for a spell & decided to at least take aim at her , then decide. As I was aiming, she made a loud snort & jumped off the way she came & stopped, looking around. As I'm sitting there trying figure out how she caught me, then, the same snorting continued with a deer running away from BEHIND the downed tree that I'm sitting in.....lol. With my luck, it was probably a 20 pointer who saw me raise the rifle and fled the scene.
On the flip side of all this, one of the grand kids started texting me earlier, wanting to go hunting which really surprises me. He want's to at least sit with me a couple times. I'll take him out Monday afternoon & pop one when they come out. My cams are showing more bucks cruising for does here, so this will be a win win no matter what.
