Ok, I'm fairly new at this hunting thing and granted, I'm hunting with a 45-70 so my accuracy might be better than those with a shotgun, but why am I constantly hearing a shot followed up by another shot a second or two later. I mean I'm not taking any shot that I can't place well, that I need to immediately follow up with another. I'd say the double shots I'm hearing are probably 30-40% of the time. And since I'm on a rant, I'm also tired of the unethical hunters around me. I spoke to a guy down the road who took a 100 yard shot (shotgun) on an 8 point and "missed" after trying to find it with no blood trail, but the neighbor said they found it nearby. He then said, "well it had to be a gut shot where the intestines blocked the hole". I'm thinking don't take a long shot if you're not confident, and second,...look hard for the damn animal (I don't give a $%#$ how out of shape you are)! I'm also tired of seeing spike bucks at the processors taken by grown men. Yeah, it's legal...but unless you're livelihood depends on venison,...why not let that thing walk? Shesh....stepping down from my soap box.
