My buddy shot a big old doe today at 5:20, she went down, plowed off into the woods. We waited about an hour, tracked her had good blood. We found her and she was sitting down and looking at us.

We were like what the hell? She couldn’t get up so we backed out, went to house ate supper and gave her time to die.

We waited until 9:00 went back to get her and she still isn’t dead, so my buddy puts her down.

Come to find out he shot her right through both front legs at the shoulders, broke both legs completely, but the shot was just low enough to miss the heart and lungs. Hate to have her suffer, but she is not anymore.

Heres a few pics from our sit this evening.

She got a chance to lay the crosshairs on a few does tonight at distances of 90 to 170 yards. We discussed where to aim at different angles and distances. I really thought we might see a decent buck tonight as one of the shooters passing through lately was here a few nights ago but an hour after shooting light. I’ll be back at it tomorrow afternoon hoping she can join me. It was a lot of fun.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO WAS SUCCESSFUL ON THE FIRST DAY. GOOD LUCK FROM HERE ON OUT TOOzers!

I seen a small buck and small doe this am. Rack just wasn't big enough. Drew seen one of our shooters that still has both sides chasing 2 doe but couldn't get a good shot. Maybe tonight...

Continued to be mire of nothing from my tree stand yesterday. Lots of trees down in front of the stand from a wind storm isn’t helping either. I have a lot to do in off season to this spot or just move the ladder stand!

Hunted this morning kinda. Drove home and stopped to see some friends along the way. Was pulling down my road as they were headed to push the woods across the street...wife and kids are gone, so why not!

First MLer season I’ve been able to feel my toes. I love cold, but gotta admit that I’ve really enjoyed this one. Nice fire last night and all. All is good homies!

Good luck Dave. Mike texted me on the drive home, I've got him set up behind the house. Hope to pay it forward. Still unpacking but will be glassing Mike's set up.
