Well the prayers worked. The tomatoes were safe from Erin today. Too bad I decided to get some of it done after Graci's ball game right at dark. Let's just say, my wife might be right on this one. Those cages are pretty close. :smiley_blackeye:

Amazing how fast that little 2-cycle motor wips them tines and grabs stuff before you can pull it back lol. My mom has a mantis I use on occasion and I always seem to find something in the way lol.

I tell you what is good, today was good. Worked on cleaning out the office. Doesn't look like I made a dent, but I did get a lot done. In between chasing the kids, dropping off and picking them up at Safety City I watched ol' Hank take a swim.

After that I picked up the kids. Talked to Drake and had to run and grab a camera from the woods. Saw 3 turkeys in the bean field. Saw a hen along the edge with 5 poults. Saw a doe with twin fawns. Saw a decent 8pt which should be a shooter next year. Good brow tines, not very wide, but decently tall. Finally moved along so I could proceed. They didn't move out of the area like I thought they might when the truck pulled up. Snuck out to get the camera and they were just across the creek within 40-50yds. Had to stay tucked behind a tree until they moved out. Pretty cool. Pulled out and was heading to the road and saw a groundhog. Told my wife on the phone "Hang on a minute, I will call you back." Several minutes later, I sent her a text picture of a dead ground hog! Later on got my permission slip signed on one of the farms I hunt and scouted for deer from the road. Saw a bachelor group of 6 with 2 of them being potential shooters this year. One decently wide 20-22". Both 10pters. Proceed to head home and my buddy calls. I go to give him a ride to pick up his truck and we end up glassing fields until dark. Never did get his truck picked up. lol

Just got my midterm back from my class "Intro to Guidance Counseling". It was a bitch, but I got a 100%! I've been fretting over it, so now it's time to drink a few tonight and then get ready for the final. As soon as the final is done I'm off for the family vacation. I'm sooooo ready!!!

What's good?

Last night I got a spur in my ass and stopped to talked to the folks that own the 21 acres next to us. Tracie and I have been talking about how much we would like to buy it and build there when we could afford to do so. Doesn't look like we can buy it now, but I have a feeling it could work itself out over time. Good news is I got permission to hunt it this year. It will make a great spot for a quick hunt and to hunt with my recurve since there is one outstanding funnel on it. I'm pretty pumped to hunt there this fall!

I also stopped and talked to the elderly lady who owns the 82 acres behind my parents. I want to hang a stand about 100' from the property line for bowhunting out of. They never allow hunting because her son is super controlling. Her and her other son could care less. I'd love to hunt the entire 82, but I didn't want to push my luck, so I just asked for permission to continue tracking deer on them if need be and to hang a stand in that tree. I could not get her to say yes, but I think I'll be able to make it happen. I'm working on some maps to show her and her controlling son to see what happens. It would be the single best stand available to me in terms of flat killing deer. It's literally a tree you could kill a deer out of 90% of the time and come the rut, it's a true hot spot. Got my fingers crossed!!!

What's good? A little lengthy but I did shorten it up a bit.

Well, on October 30th, 2010 my wife (who's due date was Nov.3rd) and I attended my aunt's wedding...the wedding was just across the river from where we live and took place at the new house my aunt here husband just built...it was so good to see a lot of family that came in from out of town..a good time was had by all and my wife (and I) decided it was time to go home around 9:30pm...Just get on the road and my wife says she is feeling a little uncomfortable...We then get home and I help her try to get comfortable...I fell asleep and in a few hours find out she had been up in discomfort and not slept at all since we got home...October 31st, 2010 at 230am she wakes me up and says I need to call the hospital, we're going to have a baby...we checked into the hospital around 5am, epideral around 930am, and dilated and ready to go around 130pm...We chose to be surprised about the sex of the baby and at 2:04pm the head is out, a little cry and then attending pulled the babies shoulders out of the canal and finally the rest of the baby...It was a boy!!! I couldn't see a damn thing cuz my eyes were all watery for some reason but I somehow managed to cut the cord...Nolan Joseph was our little Halloween baby boy!! I will have to find the picture and post it, 4 generations of Thompsons.

Now he is 8 months old, crawling, 2 front bottom teeth, saying da-da, ma-ma, clapping, waving, cruzing around the living room...the time goes so fast!

My good for the day.... just finally got around to getting one of my bow spot permission slips signed. Time to get a camera hung this weekend. Also stopped off at a goose spot I've scouted for a few years now and it looks like I might get a permission slip signed for there too!! Talked to the farmer and he wants be to kill every goose I can. Told him I'd try my best!! :smiley_coolpeace:

That is awesome buddy! I just thought there was something in the hospital messing with my allergies? There are a few times in a man's life when I think we are supposed to shed a tear. The birth of a child, the death of your faithful companion dog, etc. You are not alone my friend. I know I was okay through the delivery of our first child despite the fact I showed up in BDU's and was away on deployment. Once I was in the room, we delivered the baby, and the realization that I was holding something my wife and I created, it hit me. I was unsure of where we were to be deployed, how long, etc. Not knowing how much time I would have to spend with her and my wife hit me like a ton of bricks once our daughter was cleaned up and I was just sitting there holding her. It is a miraculous feeling.
