Fuckin Bastogne. DEC 20 1944 the battle of the bulge. Hitler made one last attempt to cut the allied lines and make a drive for the port of Antwerp. Surrounding Bastogne and laying siege the 101st would be cut off, low on food, ammo, and no air support due to the fog and thick clouds in the Ardenz. They were onstantly barraged by German artillery. It would be another three days from today before the sky cleared enough for the air power to show and hammer the germans. Patton's army made a drive from the south to spearhead a path to Bastogne ending the siege and making contact on Dec 27 1944.

Almost forgot. This is where the famous response of "nuts" came from. The German command sent officers under a white flag to offer surrender to the Americans saying their position was hopeless. The general simply replied "nuts". Funny enough the germans had no idea what it even meant but figured it was a "no" and continued shelling. . Makes me laugh to think of some pompas ass Nazi standing there with the paper in his hands trying to figure out what the fuck it means. Calling orderlies and shit asking everyone. It was only a few day before this that the germans overran a supply company and captured 130 US soldiers and executed 86 of them. So surrender surely wasn't an option. Lol.

It would have been bad enough if equipped with the proper clothing, it must have sucked not having the right stuff.
I think Band of Brothers did a great job of portraying what those dudes went thru.

You effots are greatly appreciated. It's tuff had at least one uniformed member eat their own gun on the last 4 deployments, lost one of two cousins last summer self inflicted GSW... I've found humor, dark and dank as it gets with salty ol'fqnuts, seems to be the best release. One I've enjoyed is - https://www.veterantv.tv/ it costs, but less then 4% of a 10% VA disability .
