Great dogs.

My second one, had to put my 14 year old girl down last summer. Even though I liked her, there is a huge difference in the two of them. Different breeding makes a major difference. We are planning on breeding Skye in the near future (I have breeding rights). They are extremely intelligent, in my opinion on par with the border collie we had .

If you want help getting that intelligence out of the next batch, I can help you out! Might turn into a 100+ lb dog though.

Supposed to go to the vet tomorrow to confirm Bailey is pregnant, but there's no doubt now. She is. Prices for abortion are crazier than same litter pups. Am I crazy for letting her have them, be honest about their creation, and give them away? I know my other option, but my wife won't go for that and I'm not sure I have the stomach for it...

Life always has a hiccup for a feller.

Her mother is a fertile bitch and it must have passed on. It's irresponsible of me to have let it happen, but I had them separated for 10 days, she stopped spotting, I let them back together and he didn't pay he any mind for a few hours. I came inside and 10 minutes later I hear yelping like one of them is hurt and they're knotted. She spotted again the next day and that was the 23rd. She started showing teets late last week. Today, she looks pregnant. It's not cheap to have pups, but I don't know what to expect in terms of issues.

Not exactly something I needed in my life at the moment, but lesson learned. I'd had him scheduled in December for his nuts and their vet had to cancel. I got lazy and forgot. Guess we get to see each other again tomorrow with a slightly different reason.

Could also be a false pregnancy, which does result in swollen tits and whatnot. But pretty much all dogs are fertile as can be. So you’re probably not that lucky. Lol.

I honestly don’t know what I’d do in that situation. I’m sort of leaning towards the abortion/drown the pups in a barrel option. I understand just giving them away. But the problem is most folks that take free incest-bred pups are the same folks that’ll have no problem breeding them and spreading even more bad genetics. It doesn’t do anyone any favors. I think I’d probably get the abortion and pay the fee. I’d rather do that then take care of pups for 8 weeks only to get zero dollars in return. Puppies are a LOT of work.

Pretty much my train of thought, JB. My only concern being her health. Seems to be mixed reviews about the consequences of the abortion tactics. Guess I'll consult the professional in the AM and see how it goes.

Yea, I totally understand that. No procedure is worth risking the dogs life, that's for sure. Hope it works out for the best one way or another. This is a crappy deal all around. Buddies and I always joked about such a situation... But joking and actually doing are two totally different things. I don't envy your position buddy. Good luck tomorrow.

Jaden injured his spine around Xmas jumping off the bed. He completed physical therapy and lazer therapy today and has a month grace period for healing now until his next visit. His back end is still like a drunken sailor but he’s much improved and happier now. It’s a 12-18 month recovery from spinal damage so we will see. He can now walk 100 yards. I think his tracking days are over now in his prime at 5.5 years old. He will make an awesome Companion and Pet until his day is done. We will be working on his walking stamina now.
