Anyone bury tubs for water? If so, how big and where?
I’m planning to bury a 100gal tank and am debating on burying between dry bedding and main food source or burying in a ditch that sometimes has water in hopes is will fill naturally.
Any thoughts are welcomed! Proximity to food, minerals, scrapes, stands etc.

Like this? Kinda planning on doing something to water our garden. I already have a clean water barrel out back.

I've done it in my small food plot but, I didn't get much attraction. I have two larger lakes less than 1000 yards away, so it was a crap shoot. I did put some rocks and such (I'm careful not to say "dam") lol on a couple creeks, making some holes much deeper and it did provide a bit more attraction. Just my two cents

Out in Arizona they used dirt and walled off the downhill side of just about every drainage you could find.

I think it really depends on your area whether or not these artificial water holes are an attraction. In the places I hunt, water is pretty much everywhere. And also keep in mind, on an average year, most of a deer's water intake is in the food that it's eating. So for me personally, I think these water hole ideas are a waste of time and effort. Spend the same amount of time making security cover... It'll make a bigger impact.

I hunted over a watering hole at the top of a ridge in buffalo county Wisconsin during the rut 3 years ago. I was amazed at the amount of wildlife that visited that water all through the day. Not only deer but turkeys and squirrels regularly came to it. It was especially attractive to bucks who were thirsty from running non-stop looking for does.

Every ridge in Buffalo county has a small water hole on it. It seems more important to this folks than food plots and with good reason. I shot this one off a water hole there as well.

Man last summer I had access to about 75 of those barrels... Shaving cream came in them... The shaving cream was in plastic bags in the drum, so the drum was spotless... All went in the garbage, no one had a use for them...

This is coming from a guy that is scared to call and give up his location. So take it for what it’s worth. Not like I’m known for killing big bucks. King of “needed another year or two” 😂

Sorry. I should have read that more carefully.

I've had some luck back in the woods making a small natural pool of running water.
