I'm privy to a little inside baseball. If you work in manufacturing and your business isn't a member of the Ohio Manufacturers' Association, you should consider getting your business/employer to join. Erik Burkland and his team at OMA are a "silent" champion for Ohioans in all of this. So I hear anyways...

A one day old news article regarding the doctor I have made previous posts about. He was recently interviewed by Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.

NY doctor reports 100% success treating coronavirus with drug combination

Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a New York-based family practitioner, is confident in a drug combination he's successfully used to treat the coronavirus.

Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a New York-based family practitioner, is confident in a drug combination he's successfully used to treat the coronavirus.
According to Zelenko, he has treated 699 COVID-19 patients with an astounding 100 percent success rate. For some patients, Zelenko used the drug combination of Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate, Zinc, and Z-Pak, which is typically used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.
In a video Dr. Zelenko uploaded to YouTube, he outlines his process. "My office saw 699 patients with coronavirus ... Out of those patients, a select high-risk group were treated with medication—that three drug combination—and I'd like to report that since then... There have been zero deaths in that group, and zero intubations. Meaning, there's no breathing pipe or respirators. There are four patients that are admitted in the hospital with pneumonia on IV antibiotics without a respirator."
Comparing to world statistics, 4.5 percent of those who contract the virus die. In the US, the figure stands at roughly 1.5 percent. Zelenko proudly touts that the death rate at his family clinic, with those treated with the cocktail is zero percent.

Dr. Zelenko said that in some cases, symptoms such as shortness of breath resolved within four to six hours after treatment.

Zelenko says the information is being moved up to the president and other government officials, including the prime minister of Israel.
In the video, Dr. Zelenko signs off by requesting that supply chains be increased and that those with leftover medication be returned. In an interview with Forward, "acknowledged that his regimen was new and untested, and that it was too soon to assess its long-term effectiveness.”

Dr. Zelenko also appeared on Former New York mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani's show.

"If there's a one 10,000th chance of having a heart arrhythmia, but there's a six percent chance of dying from the virus... It's a no brainer," said Zelenko to Giuliani.
Hydroxychloroquine is the same drug that President Trump had the FDA fast-tracked for clinical trials. Trump has since said that there will be more information about the drug's effectiveness in three days.

The Washington Post reported that Dr. Vladimir Zelenko had been in contact with President Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows. A source close to Meadows said that the two had been in touch, and that White House experts were evaluating Zelenko’s drug cocktail.
The chloroquine "movement" in medicine is currently spearheaded by French microbiologist Didier Raoult.
Critics say that testing of the drug was not carried out in a controlled study.

Backing up the results out of SK. People at the FDA should be shot. Even if it's only 50% effective that's 50% better than anything we have now.

Here's the ultimate cyclical irony. People are calling for "damning" lawsuits against the FDA. The FDA, in some part, held on making a decision due to fears of litigation. Welcome to a society built on lawsuits.

I have a friend that is a retired assistant chief from a very large township PD. He said towards the end of his career that liability influenced EVERYTHING they did. If a PD is that way imagine how it is at a Federal agency

After all this is said & done, the United States of America most definitely needs to reevaluate who our real allies/friends are.

Covid-19: India bans exports of Trump-backed drug as demand surges

Wednesday, 25 Mar 2020

India’s government has banned exports of hydroxychloroquine as global demand surges for the malaria drug touted by US President Donald Trump as a potential Covid-19 treatment.
Exports will be limited to fulfilling existing contracts, while certain shipments on humanitarian grounds may also be allowed on a case-by-case basis, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.

Trump has vowed to make the medication widely available to fight the pandemic, calling the drug a “game changer” in the treatment of Covid-19.
Though there is no conclusive scientific evidence that hydroxychloroquine can treat the infection from the novel pathogen, US hospitals and consumers have begun stockpiling the drug after reports of its efficacy in some small clinical studies – but not in others – began circulating online and in the media.

In India, the government is recommending healthcare workers take the drug regularly as a preventive measure to avoid contracting the infection while treating Covid-19 patients.
Cadila Healthcare Ltd, the world’s largest maker of an anti-malarial drug, has said it plans to boost capacity more than tenfold to meet the surging global demand.
Sharvil Patel, the Ahmedabad-based company’s managing director, said the company will increase production of hydroxychloroquine sulphate to as much as 35 tons, or about 200 million individual doses per month, from about three tons per month currently.
The rush to make this cheap and decades-old medicine easily accessible led the US Food & Drug Administration to lift import restrictions on three plants of another Indian pharmaceutical company, Ipca Laboratories Ltd, on March 20.

Don’t bet on it. Still good news but New Orleans hosted millions during Mardi Gras before the outbreak and you can bet your ass most was rubbing next to each other. Our numbers have doubled since March 26th and reporting is 4-5 days late. We know of deaths and don’t see numbers change for 4-5 days. Our parish (supposed to inactivity a curfew tonight). Crazy how many people are on the road when nothing is open.

Also Texas and Arkansas put in measures if someone from Louisiana goes to their state they are to report it and quarantine for 14 days. You think that’s gonna happen. Here on the Northshore of New Orleans is where a good portion of workers live, along with sw Mississippi. The future worries me.
