Doggone good dog thread

This a$$hole dog that Jesse @bowhunter1023 sold me is now made it to 100 lbs. He is getting better, but being that he is only about 9 months old he can still be an ornery shit. Bad thing is when a 100lb puppy gets ornery it can be an issue. LOL. We are taking him in a few weeks to get his eyes fixed as his eyelashes are inward.

You get them nuts removed yet?
Also if you haven’t yet, invest in a good training collar. Its a good attitude adjustment for them.

The nuts have been gone. I have a training collar but haven’t had to use it yet. He actually isn’t too bad. Just still has some puppy in him. Some of which would be more cute if he didn’t weigh 100 lbs.

The eye fixing is a great investment for them. Sucks to pay the $, but it he will definitely feel and look better. Gunnar isn't quite 100#s, so my prediction that he'd be bigger than dad was spot on! 😂

I knew the Dad was pretty big, but wasn't sure if he was 100 or not. At least they can do both eyes at the same time. I think they said after a few days he should be pretty good, but I think the stitches stay in for like 3 weeks.

He made me proud today and we celebrated the success with a bunch of positive affirmation. I've never been super impressed by his nose, or his drive to find whatever was thrown despite the challenge. Compared to Remi instinctually, Gunnar lacks a good bit IMO. I took a tennis ball out today and let him put it in his mouth for 10 seconds or so, the I chucked it out in the yard. He had a decent mark, but the deep snow swallowed the ball. He didn't let that deter him and he stayed on the hunt, zigzagging all over the yard, eventually narrowing back in on his original mark. Once he got downwind, he whipped around right to it, then buried into the snow to get the ball. Took him a solid 2-3 minutes. We did that 2 more times before we quit and ended on a high point. Was a good way to break in the Christmas gift and show me that maybe he'll earn his keep one of these days.

How much do you work her?
He is really just a family dog. Got a bath Sunday and was out in the snow shortly after. Next day had limber tail. Freaked him out. Our prior lab hunted a little. You couldn't keep him out of water, even in stupid cold Temps. He got limber tail a few times. Always after swimming in extremely cold water.

Received the unfortunate news that my boy has cancer in his lungs. Going to ease the pain with steroids and call it when it’s time. Doggone good because of what this companion has been for our family.
