The Ann Arbor dealership 100% misrepresented the truck they had advertised. 2020 Ram 3500 with Boss vee plow was actually $42000 without the plow. A far cry from $37800

Yepper. "Would you like a 2500 with a Western plow?" Ummm, no. I called about the 3500 with Boss plow. 2500 has rear coil springs.
Got straight answers from our trusted Ford salesman today. Also from the Ram dealer my neighbor used. Reg cab 1T 4x4 long bed gasser is $40k. Plus or minus a bit depending upon options the "stripped down work truck" has. Extended cab long bed Ford +$3000.
I told both salesmen: I won't waste anymore of your time. If you see something, shoot me a text. I need to decide if I want to drop $40k, keep shopping for a sub $25k 5yr old truck, or fix the rust on my 2006.
They both said Covid shut down production. New trucks unavailable. Used trucks shot up. Doesn't help that guys buying reg cab work trucks don't trade every 2-4yrs. Usually pass them down the food chain to their next employee and buy another. I'm in a classic supply and demand crunch. Biden won't fix that. Biden can destroy the economy and there will still be a shortage. A shortage is a shortage no matter what the economy is doing.
Heard from an industry insider that oil could skyrocket to $300/bbl in the next couple of years. That's $15/gal gas. We all gonna be broke when that happens. Buncha gas guzzlers in this thread.

Pretty much. I've had it around 10yrs. It's a 6.0L. both banks of injectors have been replaced. EGR deleted. I'm sure other issues could and will happen, but those issues will happen on any vehicle. It's a solid truck overall. (Knock on wood.)
I would keep rolling the dice. Doesn't seem urgent enough to drop $40.
GM is standing behind my OEM window deflectors I bought with their GM Rewards points. I truly believe that the dealership makes or breaks warranty repairs. I researched all master diesel techs when my 01 Duramax was ready for its replacement set of injectors. Talked to at least a dozen dealers within 75 miles, our local 2 ended up in the top 5.
Good deal. If you are happy, be happy. I personally am looking for parts to last longer than a year. I don't want to need my warranty. I justified it to myself long enough, I'm moving on.
Lol, thanks but I didnt ask for permission to be happy. Just sharing an example where GM stood behind their $100 part lol. I think that 6.2 you got was a lemon, and hated to see what ya went thru with it. Best of luck on your new path.

Just put new brakes and passenger side rear bearing on the wife's 2013 T&C. She has 131K miles on it and runs like new. Fingers crossed of another year of driving while paid off.
Feels like oil going thru the roof is always just 1 war, 1 big storm, or 1 wrong move away. Piss on worrying about that, just buy what fits the budget and what you need in a reliable vehicle.

GM has a heavy hand in warranty repairs. It's getting bad. Almost like insurance companies saying you can't get the name brand until you tried the generic. Or you can't get an MRI until you've done physical therapy and jumped through whatever other hoops they require. The dealership has to follow the TSB which often requires them to try a few other less costly bandaids before they will authorize the larger repair if the mechanic doesn't follow the TSB then the dealer doesn't get paid for the repair.
Correct and thats where a good tech knows the failure mode based on experience and can submit evidence quickly and accurately of the issue. Typical turnaround is 2-3 days for the corporate warranty review and approval to move forward or not. One fubar and its rejected and you are dead in the water.
I was done with GM when I had 3 of them between 01-05 year models. Wheel bearing assemblies should not fail at 30k miles on an 01 Blazer that was never off road. I had many issues similar and wrote them off. When the government bailed them out I was double done. I'm glad you've had a good run with them, Adam.

Love my GMC Yukon and Chevy Truck, both have over 300k with only minor issues. I owned one Ford in my life and it sucked.
I don't want 5cent or Clay to think I'm piling on the anti-GM band wagon. I had a run of bad luck. So for the record: They all suck. Sooner or later they all break. For work trucks I lean Ford or Dodge for one reason: solid front axle to hold a 9'2" vee plow.

I dont get in a tizzy over people's personal preferences, never have never will.....especially the ford vs chevy or domestic vs import conversation, its just fun conversation. I have been in manufacturing my entire professional career. I know how things are designed, I know how they are assembled and I know the "strategic cost reductions" they all do to increase margin. All things fail, including space shuttles due to inadequate oring swell calculations. Shit happens, but its accelerated when people abuse and don't care of their mechanical items either.
Like Dave said, do what works for you. I do fault people for bashing and not doing something about it. Just like Dave did when he bought his Ford, J/Brian/Jim on their Yotas. Bash away on GM, I dont own the company lol!
