So is the theory that the antlers are fake (made from a mold), or sheds that we "attached" to the skull, or the deer's own and the skull plate was manipulated to increase the spread?
Not sure I understand either side either, Scott. In the end, who cares. Not like he is in the book holding the record. Dude went silent and hasn't been heard from. What more do you want? I'd guess the DNR did an investigation and he is clean. Not sure what the fuss is about.
I was just thinking that the spread is only one measurement and cannot be greater than the length of the longest main beam. It just seems off to try and screw with the skull plate to potentially change one measurement. And people mount sheds all the time. The Fleming sheds are spectacular. This story is weird and yet facinating at the same time. I just wondered if people thought the antlers were real......Agreed, the controversy has been going on for a long long time. No sense in going all Scooby Doo and Mystery Machine the whole thing LOL!
